Hey guys it’s Lois, today is another fun post! Today is an interview with Crystal @ Lostnagoodbook. She has recently started a new series on her blog called the RESIST! series which she explains in this interview. She recently took a few of David’s posts for her series which is really exciting!

Let’s get on for this interview!

1. Introduce yourself to everyone

My name is Crystal, I’m a 40-something single mom in Southern California and I host a book blog called Lost In A Good Book.

2. When did you start your book blog and why?

If I’m honest, I started it for FREE BOOKS! Well that and getting to talk to people about books. There aren’t any book clubs in my area so this was the best way to get my book fix.

3. If you could only read one book for the rest of your life what would it be?

That’s a tough one. I think maybe East of Eden by John Steinbeck.  It is very long. (ha) It’s also dense, every time I read it I find something else of interest, so it will keep me going for a long time.

4. What is the Resist series on your blog all about?

I’ve always felt strongly about women’s rights and children’s rights and some of the political changes I’ve been observing impressed on me the need to be more vocal about the things that are important to me. It’s important to resist injustice in the world by shining a light on it and then proposing and supporting positive change. I don’t have much of an audience, but I want to use the RESIST! series to speak up in support of people who are marginalised and spread awareness in order to help them.

5. What is your dream job and why?

Book shop owner. I used to think it would be a teacher. Oh or maybe a Literature Professor, now that would be awesome!!!

6. If you could meet one author dead or alive who would it be and why?

Hmm, that’s hard to say. One of my favourites, Charles Dickens would be fascinating, but he was a little strange. Mark Twain would be a hoot for sure, but I think I’d be too timid and wouldn’t get the most out of my time with him. Maybe, Charlotte Bronte, I think we could find a lot to talk about.

7. If you had the power to make everyone in the world read one book, what would it be and why?

This is going to take a while … brb … Ok I finished ALL the other questions and still can’t think of something! I think I’m going to go back to East of Eden by Steinbeck. It has all of the world in it. All of human weakness and strength. Despite the tragedies in this book it ends with hope for the future and with the possibility for us to change our trajectory and become better people. Yeah. That’s my pick.

8. If you could have any book or film character as a best friend who would it be and why?

This is easy. Leslie Knope from Parks and Recreation. I don’t know if you have this show in the UK but she is best girlfriend goals personified. She is unfailingly loyal and kind. She can be a little annoying sometimes, but I can’t imagine a character who would be more on your side and giving as a best friend. I know it’s not a book character but she is really terrific.

9. What is one interesting fact about yourself?

My most interesting fact is not about me, but about my kids. They are simultaneously my kids, and my neice and nephew. I adopted them from foster care when their mom (my sister) was having some personal difficulties. They are the best thing that has ever happened to me, and my favorite people in the entire world.

10. What are you currently reading?

Assassin’s Quest by Robin Hobb. It is book 3 of a 15 book series that I am re-reading in preparation for the release of book number 16 that comes out in May. Which I just got the ARC for, and pre-ordered the signed copy of and … do you think I’ll make it? It’s killing me, but it such a good death.

Thank you to Crystal for that! I had a lot of fun putting this post together. Don’t forget to check out Crystal’s blog as well as our guest interview over on her blog

  1. Such a great interview!

Good luck finishing Assassins Quest! I have seen the books at the library and wondered if I would like them. I would love to be a book shop owner too. So that may be my back up plan if I do not make it as a Career or Academic Advisor haha.

    Have a great day!
