Hello all and welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday! This week’s top ten topic is all about series I haven’t started yet but have been meaning to. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
So without further ado, here is this weeks Top Ten Tuesday, series I haven’t started yet but have been meaning to.
1) Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
“Society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences.”
I have been meaning to read this series for a long long time now. I bought the entire series in a bundle in a sale at the local bookshop. This is after there was a big hype around the series and I heard nothing but good things about it. It has just been pushed further and further back on my TBR over time. Eventually, I will get round to reading it.
2) The Maze Runner Series by James Dashner
“If you ain’t scared, you ain’t human.
When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers—boys whose memories are also gone.
Nice to meet ya, shank. Welcome to the Glade.
Outside the towering stone walls that surround the Glade is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out—and no one’s ever made it through alive.
Everything is going to change.
Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying.
Remember. Survive. Run.”
This is another series that everyone loved whilst I was in college. One of the people in my classes copies of the series were passed around my friendship group and everyone loved them. I didn’t get round to reading them. So, instead I bought my own copy of the book and though I would read it in the Summer. I have never got round to that yet though.
3) The 5th Wave Series by Rick Yancey
“After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.
Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors.”
Now when it comes to this series it is a little different. I have actually read the first and second instalments of this series. I enjoyed them and then had to wait a year for the last instalment in the series. I bought the book on its release day but it just got put onto my shelf and has never been read. I really want to know how the series ends. I will eventually!
4) The Illuminae Files Series by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
“This morning, Kady thought breaking up with Ezra was the hardest thing she’d have to do. This afternoon, her planet was invaded.
The year is 2575, and two rival megacorporations are at war over a planet that’s little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra—who are barely even talking to each other—are forced to fight their way onto an evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.”
This is another series I have been meaning to start for almost 2 years. I bought Illuminae and then bought Gemina about 2 weeks later. I have never got round to properly reading them. I have read the first half of Illuminae but I was mid assignments when I did and couldn’t remember most of it. So, I will soon get to reading this book.
5) Flawed Series by Cecelia Ahern
“You will be punished…
Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.
But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found flawed.”
I didn’t even know this book existed till my birthday last year. One of my mum’s friends bought it me for my birthday because she knows how much I love reading. I didn’t even know that Cecelia Ahern had written a young adult book, let alone a series. I am a big fan of Cecelia Ahern’s books so I am looking forward to reading this series.
6) Rebel of the Sands Series by Alywn Hamilton
“She’s more gunpowder than girl—and the fate of the desert lies in her hands.
Mortals rule the desert nation of Miraji, but mystical beasts still roam the wild and barren wastes, and rumor has it that somewhere, djinni still practice their magic. But there’s nothing mystical or magical about Dustwalk, the dead-end town that Amani can’t wait to escape from.”
This is a series that I never bothered to even look at when I was in the bookstore. It didn’t grab my attention at all. But when the second instalment was released that one did grab my attention. After reading the book on the seconded instalment I knew I wanted to give the series a read!
7) The Chaos Walking Series by Patrick Ness
“Prentisstown isn’t like other towns. Everyone can hear everyone else’s thoughts in an overwhelming, never-ending stream of Noise. Just a month away from the birthday that will make him a man, Todd and his dog, Manchee — whose thoughts Todd can hear too, whether he wants to or not — stumble upon an area of complete silence. They find that in a town where privacy is impossible, something terrible has been hidden — a secret so awful that Todd and Manchee must run for their lives.”
I tried to listen to the audio book of this story when I was working. I then stopped being able to use my phone whilst at work so I stopped listening to audio books. I was just getting into the story as well. I have seen the book but the size of it completely daunts me. So, if I had the time and the ability to listen to audio books whilst at work or in the ca in the future this will be the first book I listen to.

Until next time,
I want to read Flawed too !, I haven’t heard much about it, but it has been on my TBR for some time now, I really want to read it. From your list I’ve read The 5th Wave, I read the first and second book and they’re really good but it has been a while so I don’t know if I want to finish it and Divergent I’ve enjoy only the first book then I feel that the trilogy becomes different and really I didn’t like it. I hope you enjoy your readings 😊😊

You’ve got a great list there. I think The Knife of Never Letting Go was one of the first audiobooks I recommended to my wife. She loved it (and she’s super picky). Happy reading!

I’ve seen Chaos Walking on a few lists this week and I didn’t even know Patrick Ness had a SciFi series. He’s one of those authors everyone constantly praises though I’ve only read The Rest of Us Just Live here. Might have to look into this one a bit more.
Illuminae is a great series as well. I find though that you have to read it quickly in order not to forget everything because of the format. The audiobook version is also fantastic.

Rebel of The Sands is awesome! Divergent and Maze Runner are both decent but there are better dystopias out there. I tried reading the first Chaos Walking book but couldn’t get into it, I didn’t get very far though so I might try again one day.
