Being from the North of England, I always hear it said that we never have any book events up here. Yes, we don’t get as many events as London does, but we definitely have book events up North. One of which is happening this Friday the 8th of February!
Once again Waterstones Manchester Deansgate is the host of another exciting Young Adult book event! L.C Rosen and Simon James Green in conversation.
This event will have L.C Rosen talking about his YA debut novel Jack of Hearts (And Other Parts). L.C Rosen will be joined with Simon James Green who will join him in discussing wider issues that surround LGBTQ+ representation in fiction and also why queer intimacy needs to come out of the closest and into the mainstream.
L.C Rosen’s debuted YA novel Jack of Hearts (And Other Parts) has been described by RuPaul Drag Race’s Courtney Act as the book that ‘gives you the sex ed class desperately lacking from high school education’. It is a watershed and boudary pushing queer YA novel with a fresh and fierce protagonist to match.
“Meet Jack Rothman. He’s seventeen and loves partying, makeup and boys – sometimes all at the same time. His sex life makes him the hot topic for the high school gossip machine. But who cares? Like Jack always says, ‘it could be worse’.
He doesn’t actually expect that to come true.
But after Jack starts writing an online sex advice column, the mysterious love letters he’s been getting take a turn for the creepy. Jack’s secret admirer knows everything: where he’s hanging out, who he’s sleeping with, who his mum is dating. They claim they love Jack, but not his unashamedly queer lifestyle. They need him to curb his sexuality, or they’ll force him.”
I am so excited for this event and cannot wait to see what Lev and Simon have to say. Make sure you don’t miss this event if you are in the Manchester area!

Have a great time tonight! I would have gone if I hadn’t had such a heavy week and it wasn’t a good couple of hours drive each way.
