Hello all! I hope you are all well! For those of you that don’t know, a couple of months ago I started a Young Adult Book Club at Burnley Central Library! We meet every 4 weeks and at our last meeting we picked the book for the March meeting! Here is a little information about the next meeting and the book we have chosen!
Young Adult Book Club!
Next Meeting: Saturday 14th March
Where: Burnley Central Library, Grimshaw St, Burnley BB11 2BD
When: 2pm
Book of the Month: On the Come Up by Angie Thomas!
“Sixteen-year-old Bri wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Or at least win her first battle. As the daughter of an underground hip hop legend who died right before he hit big, Bri’s got massive shoes to fill.
But it’s hard to get your come up when you’re labeled a hoodlum at school, and your fridge at home is empty after your mom loses her job. So Bri pours her anger and frustration into her first song, which goes viral . . . for all the wrong reasons.
Bri soon finds herself at the center of a controversy, portrayed by the media as more menace than MC. But with an eviction notice staring her family down, Bri doesn’t just want to make it—she has to. Even if it means becoming the very thing the public has made her out to be.”
I cannot wait to talk about this book! Come along to discuss your thoughts on the book. As well as your thoughts on what you have been reading recently.
Come along to talk about books, what you have been reading and are excited to read and meet like-minded people!
I want to read this book so badly! It looks so good.
