Standalone Sunday

Hey guys. it’s Lois, back with another Standalone Sunday. I cannot wait for university to be over so I can focus on my blog and reading again. I am extremely stressed at the minute with all my assignments at the minute seen as a few of them are group work and people are not pulling their weight. But it will all be over soon thank goodness

Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme created by Megan @ Bookslayerreads. Every Sunday we make a post about a standalone book, so one that is not part of a series. There is an awful lot of focus are books that are part of a series, so it is always nice to feature a standalone book.

So, here is this weeks Standalone Sunday book, You Will Not Have My Hate by Antoine Leiris.

Published: 20th October 2016

“Antoine Leiris’s wife, Helene Muyal-Leiris, was killed by terrorists while attending a rock concert at the Bataclan Theatre in Paris, in the deadliest attack on France since World War II. Three days later, Leiris wrote an open letter addressed directly to his wife’s killers, which he posted on Facebook. He refused to be cowed or to let his seventeen-month-old son’s life be defined by Helene’s murder. He refused to let the killers have their way.”

My Comments:

In light of the events that happened in London on Wednesday I thought that it would be the right time to talk about this book. This book is a book that shouldn’t have had the need to be written but it is also a book that really needs to be read.Terrorism is something that in this day and age we really cannot ignore. This book shows the strength that Antoine Leiris had after losing his wife and the courage he had to raise his young son alone.

Everyone needs to read this book. Hopefully none of you reading have ever had to experience a terrorist attack or losing someone to a terrorist attack. This really helps show what thoughts and feelings you experience after such a terrible and horrific lose. Find my 5 star review of this book here.

There you have it this weeks Standalone Sunday. Comment below if you have read this book or plan on reading this book as well as your thoughts.

  1. I haven’t heard of this book, so thank you for bringing it to my attention. It sounds like a really powerful read and I’m adding it to my TBR right now. Thank you! (Going to check out your review for it now, too!)
