February appears to be the month of brand new Young Adult books! I have been waiting a long time for some of these books to be released and I cannot wait to get my hands on them! Here are the February releases I’m excited about.
On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
“Bri wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. As the daughter of an underground hip hop legend who died right before he hit big, Bri’s got massive shoes to fill.
But when her first song goes viral for all the wrong reasons, Bri finds herself at the centre of controversy and portrayed by the media as more menace than MC. And with an eviction notice staring her family down, Bri no longer just wants to make it – she has to. Even if it means becoming the very thing the public has made her out to be.”
I am beyond excited for this book! I have pre-ordered the special edition that Waterstones are selling and I’m hoping to read it as soon as it arrives. Angie Thomas is captivating not only as a writer but as a person and I am excited to see what she has produced. I have heard nothing but excellent things about this book so far!

Fierce Fragile Hearts by Sara Barnard
“Two years after a downward spiral took her as low as you can possibly go, Suzanne is starting again. Again. She’s back in Brighton, the only place she felt she belonged, back with her best friends Caddy and Rosie. But they’re about to leave for university. When your friends have been your light in the darkness, what happens when you’re the one left behind?”
I read this book towards the end of 2018 and it is one of my favourite books I’ve read in a long time. I have pre-ordered this book too because I need a finished copy of this book in my life. This book made me laugh, it made me cry and it was incredibly heart-warming. This book is definitely the book to pick up in February if you are a fan of contemporary novels.

Social media profiles?
Erased.
There’s nothing to trace Anna back to her old life. Nothing to link her to the `incident’.
At least that’s what she thinks … until the whispers start up again. As time begins to run out on her secrets, Anna finds herself irresistibly drawn to the tale of Maggie, a local girl accused of witchcraft centuries earlier. A girl whose story has terrifying parallels to Anna’s own…”
This is one I actually found whilst writing this post and it instantly got my attention. I am not usually one to be interested in books involving witches, but something about this book has got me interested. I will definitely be pre-ordering it and reading it as soon as I can!
