Review
I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in the cinema just the day before I read this book which I felt worked out very well. I think this was due to it just being the script of the film and whilst I was reading I was also playing the exact scene out in my head rather than imagining something completely different.
I have seen a lot of people who thought that buying the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them screenplay was pointless because you can just watch the film. I do not agree with that at all. Yes, it is simply just the film script in a book, but it also something you can read and re-read to relive the film itself without having to go and pay extortionate amounts of money at the cinema to sit and watch it over and over. Or, even waiting months for it to come out on DVD.
The characters in this book are spectacular. Newt Scamander is the perfect, sky and awkward main character. He really does show Hufflepuffs for how amazing they really are. Tina and Queenie Goldstein are both perfect secondary characters who show how incredible and strong woman are. Jacob Kowalski is an hilarious addiction to the cast and the characters in this book. The clueless ‘No-Maj’ who just wants to make everyone happy. I can’t forget all of Newt’s magical creatures, each of them unique and absolutely spectacular to look at. My favourite magical creatures would have to be Pickett the Bowtruckle and the Niffler.
I think that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was a marvellous edition to the wizarding world and I cannot wait to see what is to come with this series.
Overall, I would really recommend this book and the film to all Harry Potter fans out there. Even if you aren’t a fan I would still recommend it. It is a spectacular screenwriting debut from J.K Rowling and I cannot wait to see what is to come.
