Hey guys. it’s Lois, back with another Standalone Sunday. I’m really sorry I didn’t post anything yesterday. I wasn’t feeling too well at all, I get really bad motion sickness that can last for weeks and it began again yesterday. So, I took a little break from posting which I haven’t done in while now but I’m back today.
Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme created by Megan @ Bookslayerreads. Every Sunday we make a post about a standalone book, so one that is not part of a series. There is an awful lot of focus are books that are part of a series, so it is always nice to feature a standalone book.
So, here is this weeks Standalone Sunday book, The One Memory of Flora Banks by Emily Barr.
Published: 12th January 2017
“Seventeen-year-old Flora Banks has no short-term memory. Her mind resets itself several times a day, and has since the age of ten, when the tumor that was removed from Flora’s brain took with it her ability to make new memories. That is, until she kisses Drake, her best friend’s boyfriend, the night before he leaves town. Miraculously, this one memory breaks through Flora’s fractured mind, and sticks. Flora is convinced that Drake is responsible for restoring her memory and making her whole again. So when an encouraging email from Drake suggests she meet him on the other side of the world, Flora knows with certainty that this is the first step toward reclaiming her life.”
I adored this book. I saw it when browsing Netgalley a couple of months ago and instantly wanted to request it. I was lucky enough to be sent an ARC of this book. I finished it just short of two weeks ago. I loved being able to read a book where you as a reader get placed into the mind of an amnesiac. It was such an interesting thing that I hadn’t seen a book do before.
I loved the characters in this book and all the issues it covered as well as the plot itself. Once I got into reading this book I really did not want to put it down and read it at every opportunity I had. I was quick to review this book as I had to write my feelings down quick. Find my 4 star review here.
There you have it this weeks Standalone Sunday. Comment below if you have read this book or plan on reading this book as well as your thoughts.
