Standalone Sunday

Hey guys. it’s Lois, back with another Standalone Sunday.  Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme created by Megan @ Bookslayerreads. Every Sunday we make a post about a standalone book, so one that is not part of a series. There is an awful lot of focus are books that are part of a series, so it is always nice to feature a standalone book. I’m going to continue what I have been doing for the past couple of weeks and show off another Roald Dahl book.

This weeks Standalone Sunday book is James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl.

Synopsis:

“After James Henry Trotter’s parents are tragically eaten by a rhinoceros, he goes to live with his two horrible aunts, Spiker and Sponge. Life there is no fun, until James accidentally drops some magic crystals by the old peach tree and strange things start to happen. The peach at the top of the tree begins to grow, and before long it’s as big as a house. Inside, James meets a bunch of oversized friends—Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybug, and more. With a snip of the stem, the peach starts rolling away, and the great adventure begins!

My Comments:

I think this is one of the last Roald Dahl books that I got round to reading. I loved it. Roald Dahl had so many wacky ideas for books. They were certainly ones that grabbed the attention of both the young and the old! I watched the film adaptation of the book not too long ago and really enjoyed it. I will certainly be reading this book again!
