Hello all, and welcome to another Goodreads Monday! I have so many books on my TBR and this is the time and place to talk about them all!
Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that is hosted by Lauren @ Lauren’s Page Turners and I cannot wait to bring you a book that is waiting to be read on my TBR list.
Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme where you pick a book that is on your TBR list and show it off. This week I am showing off I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai.
Published: 8th October 2013
“When the Taliban took control of the Swat Valley in Pakistan, one girl spoke out. Malala Yousafzai refused to be silenced and fought for her right to an education.
On Tuesday, October 9, 2012, when she was fifteen, she almost paid the ultimate price. She was shot in the head at point-blank range while riding the bus home from school, and few expected her to survive.
Instead, Malala’s miraculous recovery has taken her on an extraordinary journey from a remote valley in northern Pakistan to the halls of the United Nations in New York. At sixteen, she has become a global symbol of peaceful protest and the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize laureate.”
I have been meaning to read this book for a very long time but have never picked up a copy of it, until last week. I saw a young adult version of the book whilst in a bookstore and it immediately made me go and pick up the original version and purchase it. Malala is inspirational and I really want to read more about her story. I have been putting off reading this book because I felt as though I wasn’t in the right mindset to give the book a read. But, now I feel like I am and really want to learn more.
There you have it, this weeks Goodreads Monday. If you have read or plan on reading I am Malala let me know in the comments, I would love to hear your thoughts on the book below!
