Hey guys. it’s Lois. I am so sorry I haven’t posted for a while. I have been really busy with work this week and I have also been ill so finding time to blog has been hard. I am finally back doing Standalone Sunday! I have missed doing this!
Standalone Sunday is a weekly meme created by Megan @ Bookslayerreads. Every Sunday we make a post about a standalone book, so one that is not part of a series. There is an awful lot of focus are books that are part of a series, so it is always nice to feature a standalone book.
This weeks Standalone Sunday book is Spontaneous by Aaron Starmer.
Published: 4th May 2017
Synopsis:
“Mara Carlyle’s senior year is going as normally as could be expected, until—wa-bam!—fellow senior Katelyn Ogden explodes during third period pre-calc.
Katelyn is the first, but she won’t be the last teenager to blow up without warning or explanation. As the seniors continue to pop like balloons and the national eye turns to Mara’s suburban New Jersey hometown, the FBI rolls in and the search for a reason is on.”
My Comments:
This book is fantastic! I have been looking forward to this book for months now. John Green mentioned it in a video over a year ago. The book wasn’t released in the UK until this May. I read this book so quickly. I couldn’t put the book down. It is full of sarcasm and humour but also tackles a topic that I have never seen in YA before. My favourite quote from the book is, “Here’s what happens when a guy blows up during your group therapy session that’s supposed to make you feel better about people blowing up. The group therapy session is officially cancelled. You do not feel better.”
There you have it this weeks Standalone Sunday. Comment below if you have read this book or plan on reading this book as well as your thoughts.
