Review:
I drove Lois to a recent Headline event where she was meeting several new authors, I was only dropping her off and my plan was go to the Trafford Centre and do a bit of shopping. When we arrived at the venue my phone decided to have a breakdown and wouldn’t let me turn it back on, so we had to go with plan B. Lois contacted the event organiser who said she was more than happy for me to accompany Lois to the event, so I did.
I left Lois talking to her fellow bloggers and friends from Waterstone’s and I got talking to two lovely ladies, one who like me was the taxi driver, the other was a blogger, “lovebooksreadbooks”.
The first author who came and sat and talked to us was Karen Hamilton author of “the perfect Girlfriend”. We asked where she got the idea from and she explained it was from when she was an Air Hostess. She said that people always seemed to respect and look up to someone in a uniform and that got her thinking to the plot of the book.
I thoroughly enjoy the book, it starts with a prologue and this becomes an important event as the story progresses. The story is told from the viewpoint of the girlfriend and starts with her obsession, he ex-boyfriend and the lengths she goes to stalking and tracking him. Her obsession grows and you get glimpses of the reason for the obsession. The story is gripping and kept me enthralled throughout a long train journey and I couldn’t wait to get to the ending. Part way through the book you wonder how it is going to continue as it looked like the story was coming to the end, however it took another twist and the drama continued. As the story continues the girlfriend becomes more and more deluded and then the final twist at the end.
This story could have a sequel but is definitely worth a read if you like a gripping thriller with a few twists and turns.
