I go on holiday to Lanzarote in two days and I cannot wait! This will be my fourth time visiting the island and my third visiting with my boyfriend David. It is safe to say it is one of our favourite places to go and relax and spend a good while reading. It is so hard work to pick a set of books to take with you on holiday and deciding what to take this year was no different. I have successfully got it down to 6 books for 10 days! Here is my Holiday TBR!
Birthday by Meredith Russo
“Two kids, Morgan and Eric, are bonded for life after being born on the same day at the same time. We meet them once a year on their shared birthday as they grow and change: as Eric figures out who he is and how he fits into the world, and as Morgan makes the difficult choice to live as her true self. Over the years, they will drift apart, come together, fight, make up, and break up—and ultimately, realise how inextricably they are a part of each other.”
I have been excited about this book for such a long time now and cannot wait to finally dive it. I am planning on taking this book with me on the plane as I need a good distracting whilst flying anywhere. I have heard so many great things about it and cannot wait to see what I think!
All the Things We Never Said by Yasmin Rahman
“16-year-old Mehreen Miah’s anxiety and depression, or ‘Chaos’, as she calls it, has taken over her life, to the point where she can’t bear it any more. So she joins MementoMori, a website that matches people with partners and allocates them a date and method of death, ‘the pact’. Mehreen is paired with Cara Saunders and Olivia Castleton, two strangers dealing with their own serious issues. “
This is another book that I have been highly anticipating since it was announced. This is another book I have heard spectacular things about and cannot wait to see what I think. I love a good multiple POV story and cannot wait to dive into this whilst on holiday! Yasmin is going to be at YALC this year too so I would love to have read this book before YALC.
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
“Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows.
The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone’s declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.”
I read One of Us is Lying whilst in Lanzarote last year, so it feels right to take Karen’s new book to Lanzarote this year. I loved her previous book and as soon as this one was released I knew I would be taking it on holiday with me. I can’t wait to read this book on a wonderful deckchair in sunny Lanzarote!
Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
“Postcard-perfect Jar Island is home to charming tourist shops, pristine beaches, amazing oceanfront homes—and three girls secretly plotting revenge.
KAT is sick and tired of being bullied by her former best friend.
LILLIA has always looked out for her little sister, so when she discovers that one of her guy friends has been secretly hooking up with her, she’s going to put a stop to it.
MARY is perpetually haunted by a traumatic event from years past, and the boy who’s responsible has yet to get what’s coming to him.”
This is a book that I bought solely because I wanted to read it whilst on holiday. I love both Jenny and Siobhan’s books and the premise of this one hooked me. I have no expectations for this book other than I knew it was one I wanted to read on holiday!
A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Shienmel
“Four walls. One window. No way to escape. Hannah knows there’s been a mistake. She didn’t need to be institutionalized. What happened to her roommate at her summer program was an accident. As soon as the doctors and judge figure out that she isn’t a danger to herself or others, she can go home to start her senior year. In the meantime, she is going to use her persuasive skills to get the staff on her side.”
Alysaa Sheinmel’s book Faceless was one of the first ever books I reviewed and has stuck with me ever since. When this was released earlier in 2019 I was extremely excited but I wanted to save it to read on holiday. My excitement for this book hasn’t died down since which is why I cannot wait to dive in on holiday and see what I think!
Alex in Wonderland by Simon James Green
“In the town of Newsands, painfully shy Alex is abandoned by his two best friends for the summer. But he unexpectedly lands a part-time job at Wonderland, a run-down amusement arcade on the seafront, where he gets to know the other teen misfits who work there. Alex starts to come out of his shell, and even starts to develop feelings for co-worker Ben… who, as Alex’s bad luck would have it, has a girlfriend.”
I was so happy when my preorder of this book arrived a few days before I went on holiday! I love Simon James Green’s books a lot and wanted a book I feel would be cute and summery to take on holiday with me. This book is going to be perfect to read whilst there and I cannot wait to start it already! I can’t wait to see Simon at YALC again this year!
That is my holiday TBR! I am also going to be taking my kindle with me just in case I don’t feel like reading one of the other book or if I read all the books I take with me. I’ve realised I haven’t really packed any Summer books with me, so I may buy some of those on my kindle! Have you read any of the books on my TBR? What did you think? Let me know in the comments below!
These all look like such great holiday reads, I hope you enjoy your trip!
