Trip to Lanzarote – Recap

Holliday

I can’t believe I’m writing this post already! I have just got back from a 10 day holiday to Lanzarote with my boyfriend David. We went to Lanzarote for the third year in a row! We had the best time, we relaxed and we can’t wait to go back next year. This is going to be a bit of a different post as it is going to be a little bit of a holiday recap. I wanted to do this so that I could look back on the memories in a few years from now. So, here is my trip to Lanzarote recap!LineIMG_20190606_202416.jpg

We arrived in Lanzarote late on a Wednesday night after being slightly delayed at the airport. We were staying in a beautiful villa with our own pool in a very beautiful and quiet part of the island, Marina Rubicon. I commented about how it felt like we had never left because of how much we enjoy being there and how wonderful of a place it is. Due to arriving late, we were both tired and went straight to bed!

On our first few days on the island we went on some nice walks around the Marina, neighbouring town and a few other places. One morning we were sat near the sea and a bunch of birds flew right past our head. For anyone who doesn’t know I’m really interesting in different types of birds and love sitting and watching them when I can. Turns out it was a migrating pack of swifts, which are a beautiful, fast and agile bird. I was fascinated by them and it is safe to say I spent a lot of my time watching them.

We both spent a lot of our time reading books in the sun. Most afternoons we came back to the villa and sat by the pool reading. I read 7 books whilst there which I cannot quite believe. At some point in the next month I am going to do a post with mini reviews of all the books I read whilst away, so keep an eye out for that!

One thing Lanzarote isn’t short of is animals. On top of seeing all the swifts we saw a lot more animals. There is 2 parrots in the neighbouring town to ours that sit outside one of the restaurants. They are well fed, fly where they want and seem to be the best of friends. I loved seeing those every day! We also made friends with a dog that lived on one of the boats in the Marina. Whilst eating dinner on our last day it left its boat and came and sat near us for a good while whilst I cuddled it. Lanzarote is a place that has a lot of stray cats. These are well looked after by a wonderful charity on the island, that feeds them, neuters them and keeps an eye on them. I loved seeing all the cats and was even followed home one night by a beautiful black and white young cat. I loved seeing all the animals whilst there.

We ate a lot of yummy food whilst there. My favourite being the cheese toasties I ate at the cafe for lunch most days or the ice cream I had every night after tea. I am missing the toasties and ice cream already but I’m sure I’ll be eating them again when we are there next year.

After 10 days of rest and relaxation we were all packed to go home. Neither of us could believe how quickly the time had gone and how much having 10 days to relaxing had helped us. We were hugely delayed coming home though and only arrived home at 5am rather than the 2:30am we were meant to. This didn’t stop us from enjoying the holiday though and it is safe to say we had the best time whilst there.

We will definitely be going back next year, hopefully for even longer. Lanzarote is one of my favourite places in the world for so many reasons. It is calm, sunny, relaxing and it is just such a beautiful place I could stay there for a long time. I am so lucky to have someone like David to go on holiday with and it was the perfect place to celebrate being together for 4 years.

Bring on Lanzarote next year!
