This or That Book Tag!

I love doing book tags! It is fun to think about all the questions and see how different people answer them. So, when I saw the ‘This or That‘ book tag, I had to give it a go. I’ve seen this one on a few people’s blogs but can’t seem to find who created it. Here is the ‘This or That‘ book tag!

Reading on the couch or in bed?

The couch definitely. I like being sat up, comfortably, whilst I’m reading and find that the couch is the best place to do this. I can’t read well in bed, as I wear glasses and can’t lie on my side to read. So, I certainly prefer my couch to read.

Male main character or female main character?

I don’t have a preference. If there is a book I want to read then I’ll just read it. It doesn’t matter to me if the main character is male or female. I think as my books are mainly written by female authors, I would say I read more female main characters but I couldn’t say for definite.

Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?

I’d have to say salty. If I’m reading after work or on my days off, I will most likely have a bowl of salted popcorn or some crackers next to me to snack on.

Trilogies or quartets?

I think I’d have to say trilogies. I don’t gravitate towards series normally, so when I do I like to be able to get through them quite quickly.

First person point of view or third person point of view?

I definitely prefer first person point of views. I feel like the authors has a lot of opportunity to play around when a book is told in first person. They have the opportunity to have an unreliable narrator or give us a real insight into the main character. I do enjoy third person point of views though.

Reading at night or in the morning?

I am more likely to read at night. That tends to be when I have more time to spend reading and lose myself in a book. Sometimes, if I turn up at work early I will pick up my book and have a little morning read which I enjoy too.

Libraries or bookshops?

Both! Both offer so many different things. I work in libraries, so I am in and out of them all the time and I love the atmosphere in them, recommending books and the sense of community you get in a library. Bookshops are somewhere I take myself on my days off and when I need to look at books for a while. I love taking myself to a bookshop and browsing the shelves and not worrying about needing to be anywhere else.

Books that make you laugh or make you cry?

It really depends on what mood I am in. Sometimes all I need is a book that will make me laugh and then other times I just want to read a book that will make me cry. I am definitely a mood reader so it purely depends on how I am feeling.

Character-driven or plot-driven stories?

I will always say this, if I don’t connect to the characters in a book then I am likely to not enjoy that book. I gravitate towards character-driven stories. I want to read something where I will connect to the characters and them being what drives the story.

There you have it, the ‘This or That‘ book tag. What would you answers be to these ones? Let me know in the comments!
