Coming To Find You – Jane Corry

Thank you so much to the publishers, Penguin Random House, for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

When her family tragedy is splashed across the newspapers, Nancy decides to disappear. Her grandmother’s beautiful Regency house in a quiet seaside village seems like the safest place to hide. But the old house has its own secrets and a chilling wartime legacy . . .

Now someone knows the truth about the night Nancy’s mother and stepfather were murdered. Someone knows where to find her. And they have nothing to lose . . .

After reading We All Have Our Secrets by Jane Corry last year I was excited to see that she was releasing another thriller just in time for summer. I knew the mystery would suck me in right away but I didn’t anticipate being unable to put this book down until I found all the answers.

When Nancy’s family tragedy is splashed across the newspapers, she decides to disappear. Her grandmother’s Regency house in a quiet seaside village seems to be the safest place to hide. But, the house has its own secrets and a wartime past. Plus, someone knows the truth about the night Nancy’s mum and stepdad were murdered. They know where to find her and they have nothing to lose.

I find that I gravitate towards books that have ‘then’ and ‘now’ perspectives. So, I was so glad to see that this book has just that. I enjoyed switching between the two timelines and between characters. It kept me in suspense and kept me interested.

We met a number of characters throughout the book but the main ones are Nancy and Elizabeth. Although there are many decades between their stories there are a lot of parallels that we get to see.

Nancy has a troubled past and her story is full of tension and suspense. I didn’t know whether to trust her or not the entire time which was a fun guessing game of is she telling the truth or not.

Elizabeth’s story is the one that had me the most intrigued. I loved reading about her past, her friendship with Adeline and Maisie and Shirley, two evacuee girls. Even though she is suffering herself she is so sympathetic to those around her and she captivated me.

Jane Corry’s writing is always atmospheric and it makes it so easy for readers to visualise the settings throughout the book. I loved that the chapters frequently ended on cliffhangers because I just had to know what happened next. Plus the mystery itself is thrilling and I couldn’t guess what the outcome was going to be.

Overall, Coming to Find You is a thrilling mystery that captivated me from the very first page. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for something to keep you on edge!
