What I Read in July!

How is it already nearly the end of July? I’ve not read as much as I hoped I would do throughout July. There hasn’t been as much time for me to read this month for a few reasons but I’ve still got some reading done. I’ve read 6 books throughout July. In this post, you will find a bunch of mini-reviews for the books I read in July. Here they are!

The three Blue sisters are exceptional—and exceptionally different. Avery, the eldest and a recovering heroin addict turned strait-laced lawyer, lives with her wife in London; Bonnie, a former boxer, works as a bouncer in Los Angeles following a devastating defeat; and Lucky, the youngest, models in Paris while trying to outrun her hard-partying ways. They also had a fourth sister, Nicky, whose unexpected death left Avery, Bonnie, and Lucky reeling. A year later, as they each navigate grief, addiction, and ambition, they find they must return to New York to stop the sale of the apartment they were raised in.

But coming home is never as easy as it seems. As the sisters reckon with the disappointments of their childhood and the loss of the only person who held them together, they realize the greatest secrets they’ve been keeping might not have been from each other, but from themselves.

I was completely taken aback by how much I adored this book. It is a heart-breaking and poignant story about sisterhood and everything that comes with that. We are introduced to the Blue Sisters and follow them their their grief which is discussed beautifully. A special shoutout goes to this book for its incredible endometriosis representation. I cannot recommend this one enough.

Eileen Merriweather loves a good love story. The fictional kind, anyway. After all, imaginary men don’t break your heart.

That’s why she’s so excited for her annual book club retreat – instead, when her car breaks down en route, Eileen finds herself in Eloraton. A town where every meet is cute, the rain always comes in the afternoon, and the bookshop is always curated with impeccable taste.

It feels too good to be true … because Eloraton is the setting of her favourite romance series. And Eileen is sure she must be here to bring the town its storybook ending.

But there’s one character she can’t place. The grumpy bookshop owner with mint-green eyes, and an irritatingly sexy mouth. He does not want Eileen to finish this story, but how else can she find her happily-ever-after?

After reading Ashley Poston’s previous romance novels I was beyond excited to finally read this new romance release from her. It was a lot of fun to read and is a perfect read for book lovers. Although it didn’t fully live up to the previous books from the author, I still had a lot of fun reading it. If you are a book lover, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this one. I’ve written a full review of this book which you can find here.

Theo and Kit have been childhood best friends, crushes, lovers and, after a brutal breakup four years ago, estranged exes.

It’s not until Theo and Kit are trapped on board a tour bus that they discover that they’ve each had the same idea: to take their dream European food and wine tour – alone. And now they’re stuck with each other for three weeks of the most romantic sights and sensuous flavours of France, Spain, and Italy. But it’ll be fine. They’re absolutely over each other.

So, when Theo suggests a friendly wager to see who can sleep with their hot Italian tour guide first, Kit is game. In fact, why stop there? Why not a full-on European hookup competition?

But sometimes a taste of everything only makes you crave what you can’t have.

Casey McQuiston is back with another spectacular novel and this one is perfect to read if you are going on your travels or thinking of travelling. This one is told from the perspectives of Theo and Kit and you can’t help but begin to love them both. I loved the journey they took throughout this book and it even made me want to visit some of the locations they did. I’ll be writing a full review of this one soon, so keep an eye out for that.

Here is a little snapshot of 3 of the books that I’ve read this month along with the rating I gave them. I had a lot of fun reading all of them each for their own reasons.
