Before I start this post I wanted to give a quick update. I haven’t been posting much recently and that is because my dog has been extremely ill. I have been spending most of my time looking after her and then at work. I haven’t had any time to focus on blogging. Before it got to December I had planned to take part in Blogmas but because of everything going on that idea didn’t come into fruition. I am looking to do something everyday in January though, but I am going to see how this month plays out first. Thank you so much for understanding and I should be more active in the coming week.
On to the post now! I love doing a post ever month where I discuss the new book releases I am excited for in the coming month. I love looking at all the books being released and then sharing them with you! Here are the January releases I’m excited about!
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus
“Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows.
The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone’s declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.”
I’ve been excited for this book ever since it got announced! I read One of Us is Lying whilst on holiday this year and instantly wanted to read more books by Karen as her writing seemed to captivate me. I love reading Ya thrillers and cannot wait to give this one a read.

Paper Avalanche by Lisa Williamson
“When it comes to flying under the radar, Ro Snow is an expert. No friends. No boys. No parties. And strictly NO VISITORS. It may be lonely, but at least this way the truth remains where it should – hidden. Then Tanvi Shah, the girl who almost died, comes tumbling back into her life, and Ro finds herself losing control of her carefully constructed lies.”
I actually recently finished reading this book and I loved it! (Review coming soon!) I love this book so much and cannot wait for it to be released into the world. I highly recommend picking it up and giving it a read. Especially, if you are look for a book all about friendships.

Slay on Tour by Kim Curran
“SLAY are BACK…and this time they’re headed to Tokyo to track down another hell-raising demon. When they’re invited on tour with a super-cool band of holographic girls, SLAY find themselves whisked off around Japan – until strange things start happening on their tour train. Suddenly it seems it’s not just SLAY’s fans following their every move…”
When the sequel to Slay was announced it is safe to say I stopped what I was doing to read all about it. I loved the first instalment in the series and cannot wait to see what the second instalment holds. This book series is full of boy bands, demons and action, what more could I want!

I’m currently reading the third part of Katherine Arden’s Winternight trilogy, Winter of the Witch. Adult fiction rather than YA but would work as YA – medieval Russia and the fight between Christianity and the Old Religion. I really like the heroine and the romance angle is there but very understated (although getting a bit more ‘stated’ in book 3…)
