Hey everyone! Hope you are all okay and looking after yourself in these trying times. I’ve thought long and hard about writing this post because of the current climate but have decided to go ahead and write it and post it. From now I will be doing all I can do limit my travel and contact with others along with other measures. This past weekend I went to London to see my wonderful friend Sophie along with the lovely Sarah and I had an amazing time. This post may only bring me and a couple of other people joy but I don’t ever want to forget this weekend. Here is a little post about my weekend in London! The weekend started on Friday night having a lovely quiet night reading with Sarah and it was the perfect start to the weekend. Early Saturday morning me and Sarah got on a train to London for a busy day with Sophie. We both started reading Love Hypothesis by Laura Steven on the train and I can only imagine what people thought of us sat together reading the same book.
As soon as we got to London it was go go go. We immediately went and met Sophie and the absoltue gem that is Jaz of Travels in Fiction in a Starbucks. I’d never met Jaz before but honestly she is so lovely and I cannot wait to spend YALC weekend with her! After a quick chat, Sarah, Sophie and I went to an Alice Oseman signing at Gosh! Comics. This was only a quick signing with Alice but it was lovely to see an author I admire again.
After the quick signing at Gosh! Comics we headed to Waterstones Piccadilly for the Hold Back the Tide Launch with Melinda Salisbury and Samantha Shannon. It was such a lovely event given the circumstances. Melinda and Samatha brought laughs and joy to all of us in the audience and we even got to snack on a couple of mini vegan cupcakes. I cannot wait to read Hold Back the Tide, I’ll definitely be reading it soon!
After a look around a few book shops around London we all met up with the wonderful Jaz again for some food before going to watch Waitress the Musical! Let me tell you, I have never laughed so much for a long time compared to how much I laughed whilst we were all chatting. A chat with friends can really lift your mood!
Straight after our food, Sarah, Sophie and I went to see Waitress the Musical! I have listened to the soundtrack a number of times and love it to pieces but this was the first time I have ever seen the full musical in person. What a musical! I loved it to pieces, I cried and I laughed and I will definitely be seeing it again in the future! I’m so glad I got to see this and I loved it so much! After Waitress it was back to the hotel where we laughed till the early hours of the morning!
Sunday was a day of book shops and reading for me, Sarah and Sophie and I loved it. We started our day at My Old Dutch and had delicious pancakes and then headed to the Foyles on Charing Cross Road. We then headed to Waterstones on Gower Street and it is possibly my new favourite Waterstones. Here we all sat down and read for a couple of hours and just relaxed and enjoyed each other company and it was wonderful. The last two book shops we visited in London were Gay’s the World and The Second Shelf, both which I loved. Then we took a trip to Forbidden Planet and somehow managed to buy a book there too. I did buy a few books whilst in London and they will be in my book haul at the end of the month!
Late Sunday night we all went our separate ways after a magical weekend. I finished the Love Hypothesis on the train back to Manchester and let me tell you I loved it! I cannot wait to spend more time with Sarah, Sophie and Jaz soon. Thank you girls for a wonderful weekend you are all amazing! London was wonderful! That ended up being a lot longer than I expected but I did have a wonderful weekend. If you are still here well done. Look after yourself everyone and you are all wonderful, don’t forget that!
