First Day of My Life – Lisa Williamson

Book ReviewThank you to the publisher for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Three friends, a stolen baby and a tangled web of lies. Everything is about to change. First Day of my Life is not what you expect, and it’s not who you suspect either. A baby has been stolen. But there are three sides to this story – three people bonded by friendship and torn apart by the unpredictability of life. Frankie, Jojo and Ram. It is a reminder to us all that every day has the potential to be the first day of the rest of your life.

Have you ever read a book in which every word, every sentence and every chapter makes you unable to put it down? This is one of those books. I started First Day of My Life and within 24 hours I had finished it. Every spare minute that I has was  spent reading this book, I just had to know what happened next.

First Day of My Life is told from three perspectives, Frankie, Jojo and Ram. Each of the perspectives adds a different element to the story as a whole and shows the story from different view points. I loved this, stories from multiple POVs are some of my favourite things. You are able to see the story from the different perspectives and see how each characters handles the situations they face differently. I loved all three of the characters. They were all written amazingly, well rounded and all incredible in their own ways.

This book is full of intrigue and mystery. I will not give anything away but Lisa Williamson has written an amazing mystery storyline that made my mind question everything. I suggest going into this book knowing that there are three perspectives and a stolen baby and that is it. You will be shocked, hooked and your mind will be blown (in a good way).

Lisa Williamson has a way of bringing up some incredibly important topics in her books in a way I don’t feel many other YA authors do. I won’t mention these topics explicitly because they do give parts of the story away. Just know that, it has secrets and revelations that will genuinely shock you. It shows you love in many different ways, love with friends, love with a partner and love of being you. This book is hard hitting and raw at times but those times stick in your head and really make you think.

I adored this book and couldn’t put it down. It will shock you, it will hook you and it will tell you a story you’ll never forget. When this book is released next year (I know a long time to wait but it is so worth it) I highly recommend that you pick yourself up a copy. You will not regret it!
