July Releases I’m Excited About!

New Book Releases!

Hello everyone, hope you are doing well and keeping safe! I’m back again with another post full of new books being released soon! I love being able to find out about new books that are going to be released within the next month and it always gets me excited about new books to read.

Before I get into this post I wanted to share a link with you all once again, for those who haven’t seen it. This is the link to a site where you can learn more about the Black Lives Matter movement. On this site you can sign petitions, donate, read useful information and find resources to help you educate yourself and others.

So, there are so many incredible books coming out in the July and I cannot wait to read them all! Here are the July 2020 releases I am excited about!

Loveless by Alice Oseman

Georgia has never been in love, never kissed anyone, never even had a crush – but as a fanfic-obsessed romantic she’s sure she’ll find her person one day.

As she starts university with her best friends, Pip and Jason, in a whole new town far from home, Georgia’s ready to find romance, and with her outgoing roommate on her side and a place in the Shakespeare Society, her ‘teenage dream’ is in sight.

But when her romance plan wreaks havoc amongst her friends, Georgia ends up in her own comedy of errors, and she starts to question why love seems so easy for other people but not for her. With new terms thrown at her – asexual, aromantic – Georgia is more uncertain about her feelings than ever.”

I am beyond excited to have a new Alice Oseman book in the world. Loveless has an aromantic asexual main character and let me tell you she is a treat. It has so much more than that as well! I have been lucky enough to be sent an eARC of this book which I am half way through and absolutely adoring. Alice Oseman is spectacular writer and I cannot wait for Loveless to be out and proud!

Harrow Lake by Kat Ellis

“Lola Nox is the daughter of a celebrated horror filmmaker – she thinks nothing can scare her. But when her father is brutally attacked in their New York apartment, she’s swiftly packed off to live with a grandmother she’s never met in Harrow Lake, the eerie town where her father’s most iconic horror movie was shot.

The locals are weirdly obsessed with the film that put their town on the map – and there are strange disappearances, which the police seem determined to explain away.

And there’s someone – or something – stalking Lola’s every move.

The more she discovers about the town, the more terrifying it becomes. Because Lola’s got secrets of her own. And if she can’t find a way out of Harrow Lake, they might just be the death of her…”

If you love psychological thriller / horror books that this is one that you need to look out for! I was lucky enough to read this book a couple of weeks ago and I flew right the way through it. It is creepy in all the right ways and one not to read at night! I wrote a full review for this book which you can find here!

Today, Tonight, Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Soloman

Today, she hates him.

It’s the last day of senior year. Rowan Roth and Neil McNair have been bitter rivals for all of high school, clashing on test scores, student council elections, and even gym class pull-up contests. While Rowan, who secretly wants to write romance novels, is anxious about the future, she’d love to beat her infuriating nemesis one last time.

Tonight, she puts up with him.

When Neil is named valedictorian, Rowan has only one chance at victory: Howl, a senior class game that takes them all over Seattle, a farewell tour of the city she loves. But after learning a group of seniors is out to get them, she and Neil reluctantly decide to team up until they’re the last players left—and then they’ll destroy each other.

As Rowan spends more time with Neil, she realizes he’s much more than the awkward linguistics nerd she’s sparred with for the past four years. And, perhaps, this boy she claims to despise might actually be the boy of her dreams.

Tomorrow…maybe she’s already fallen for him.

Now this sounds like a book right up my street! An enemies to lovers trope which I am a huge fan of as well as a number of incredible reviews, I am sold! I will defintely be ordering this book in my next round of book orders. This sounds like the perfect book to read either sat in the sun or under a blanket on a rainy day. I cannot wait to give this one a read!

Mayhem by Estelle Laure

“It’s 1987 and unfortunately it’s not all Madonna and cherry lip balm. Mayhem Brayburn has always known there was something off about her and her mother, Roxy. Maybe it has to do with Roxy’s constant physical pain, or maybe with Mayhem’s own irresistible pull to water. Either way, she knows they aren’t like everyone else. But when May’s stepfather finally goes too far, Roxy and Mayhem flee to Santa Maria, California, the coastal beach town that holds the answers to all of Mayhem’s questions about who her mother is, her estranged family, and the mysteries of her own self. There she meets the kids who live with her aunt, and it opens the door to the magic that runs through the female lineage in her family, the very magic Mayhem is next in line to inherit and which will change her life for good. But when she gets wrapped up in the search for the man who has been kidnapping girls from the beach, her life takes another dangerous turn and she is forced to face the price of vigilante justice and to ask herself whether revenge is worth the cost.”

I’ve heard a number of mixed reviews for this one and I am very intrigued. It has been marketed as a feminist mash-up inspired by The Lost Posts and The Craft. I really want to give this one a go and what what I think! I will be ordering this one at the library when they are back open! Also, it has a stunning cover!
