Hello all, I hope you are all well! I am beyond busy at the minute with a lot of things (exciting and stressful) which I’ll talk about soon. I wanted to talk about the books that I have on pre-order at the minute which I am really excited to read! Here is a little discussion all about the books I have on pre-order!
Dear Justyce by Nic Stone
THIS IS THE SEQUEL TO DEAR MARTIN SO SPOILERS IN THIS SHORT SECTION! SKIP TO THE NEXT BOOK TO MISS SPOILERS
“Vernell LaQuan Banks and Justyce McAllister grew up a block apart in the Southwest Atlanta neighborhood of Wynwood Heights. Years later, Justyce walks the illustrious halls of Yale University . . . and Quan sits behind bars at the Fulton Regional Youth Detention Center.
Through a series of flashbacks and letters to Justyce, Quan’s story takes form. Troubles at home and misunderstandings at school give rise to police encounters and tough decisions. But then there’s a dead cop and a weapon with Quan’s prints on it. What leads a bright kid down a road to a murder charge? Not even Quan is sure…”
I have this on pre-order but I am lucky enough to be reading an early eARC copy. I’m so glad I have this book on order because it is stunning and this and the first book in the series needs to be read by everyone. I will be reviewing this one very soon so keep an eye out for that!
Nick and Charlie: A Solitaire Novella by Alice Oseman
“Everyone knows that Nick and Charlie are the perfect couple – that they’re inseparable. But now Nick is leaving for university, and Charlie will be left behind at Sixth Form. Everyone’s asking if they’re staying together, which is a stupid question – they’re ‘Nick and Charlie’ for God’s sake!
But as the time to say goodbye gets inevitably closer, both Nick and Charlie question whether their love is strong enough to survive being apart. Or are they delaying the inevitable? Because everyone knows that first loves rarely last forever…”
I read this a long time again and cannot remember at all what happened and I know that Alice has changed a couple of things. I have the signed edition on pre-order ad cannot wait to re-read it, see the changes and see what I think.
Breathless by Jennifer Niven
“Claudine Henry was not supposed to spend her summer on this remote island off the coast of Georgia.
She was supposed to be on a road trip with her best friend, spending every last minute together before they go to college.
But after her father makes a shock announcement, she is exiled with her shaken mother, with no phone service and no one she knows. She is completely cut off.
Until she meets Jeremiah. Free spirited, mysterious and beautiful, their chemistry is immediate and irresistible.
They both know that whatever they have can only last the summer, but maybe one summer is enough…”
Jennifer Niven is the the author whose books I read over and over again whilst I was in college. She hasn’t released a new book for a number of years now, so when Breathless was announced I immediately pre-ordered it! I cannot wait to see what I think of this one, especially since it has been a whilst since I have read a book by Jennifer Niven.
The Black Kids by Christina Hammonds Reed
“Los Angeles, 1992
Ashley Bennett and her friends are living the charmed life. It’s the end of high school and they’re spending more time at the beach than in the classroom. They can already feel the sunny days and endless possibilities of summer.
But everything changes one afternoon in April, when four police officers are acquitted after beating a black man named Rodney King half to death. Suddenly, Ashley’s not just one of the girls. She’s one of the black kids.
As violent protests engulf LA and the city burns, Ashley tries to continue on as if life were normal. Even as her self-destructive sister gets dangerously involved in the riots. Even as the model black family façade her wealthy and prominent parents have built starts to crumble. Even as her best friends help spread a rumor that could completely derail the future of her classmate and fellow black kid, LaShawn Johnson.
With her world splintering around her, Ashley, along with the rest of LA, is left to question who is the us? And who is the them?”
I’ve seen hardly anyone discussing this book on Twitter or online but it was brought to my attention via the publisher. As soon as I read the synopsis I placed a pre-order! I cannot wait to get reading this one as soon as I have it in my hand and share my thoughts!
There you have it! Those are all the books I have on pre-order at the minute! I will be pre-ordering some more books next month too, so let me know if there is any I should pre-order! What have you got on pre-order? Let me know in the comments below!
