Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood – Beth Reekles

Thank you very much to the publishers and Netgalley for sending me an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Annalise Sherwood has worked herself to the bone to get a place on a prestigious internship programme, and nothing is going to stop her now. Work hard, play later – that’s her motto. She figures one night letting her guard down won’t hurt, though – especially when it ends with the best kiss of her life.

But to Anna’s horror, she discovers that the mystery guy she kissed that night is none other than Lloyd, the company CEO’s son. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he’s everyone’s favourite guy and a total charmer, swanning around like he owns the place. And from the moment they meet again, he rubs Anna up the wrong way.

As the summer – and the internship – progresses, Lloyd seems to be finding any excuse to annoy Anna, and she’s not afraid to give it right back to him. But when a lot of late night working brings them unexpectedly closer, she begins to wonder if there’s more to him than she originally thought . . .

After reading Beth Reekles’ previous romance novel, Faking It, I was excited to see she was releasing another and couldn’t wait to pick it up. Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood captures the worries of transitioning from being a student to a working adult all whilst learning who you are and finding love.

Anna has worked non-stop to get herself a place on a prestigious internship programme and nothing is going to stop her now. She figures one night of fun won’t hurt, especially when it ends with her best kiss ever.

To her horror, she discovers the guy she kissed is none other than Lloyd, the company CEO’s son. From the moment they meet, in the office, they rub each other the wrong way. But, a lot of late-night working brings them unexpectedly closer and she wonders if there is more to him than she thought.

I think the way this book discusses the struggles of transitioning from student life to the world of work is excellent. It manages to capture the competitive yet friendly office environment whilst also showing the longing for your family and home. That isn’t something I was expecting this book to do but I’m so glad that it did.

For that reason, I think this book will resonate with young adults as well as adults. As it addresses the hard balance between life and work and all the mistakes we make along the way.

I loved both Anna and Lloyd as main characters. Anna is a lot more complex than she might seem on the surface. She is determined, ambitious and I loved watching how she develops throughout the book. Her journey demonstrates the demands we all face both from family and from ourselves to succeed and move forward.

Lloyd is like a human golden retriever who is kind, gracious and extremely caring. He also has worries about succeeding in life and that is one of the things he and Anna bond over. Their romance is adorable and I would have read a lot more about Anna and Lloyd.

Beth Reekles has become one of my auto-buy authors following this book. Her books are always well-written, fun and romantic all whilst discussing some of the heavier topics we sometimes face in life.

Overall, Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood is an excellent read if you are looking for a fun, light-hearted romance read that delves into transitioning from being a student to work life and other slightly heavier topics. I would highly recommend it!
