The Finished Books Tag

I’ve finished just over 60 books this year, so I thought it would be perfect to give the finished books tag a go which I saw on Kristin Kraves Books. Here is the finished books tag.

I do! So, I track what I’ve read on The StoryGraph and have used that for the past couple of years. I input all the books I’ve read onto Goodreads at the end of the year too. Then, I have a little notebook which I’ve had since 2021 where I write what I’ve been reading at the end of each month. So, I track it in a lot of places.

In my notebook, I record the number of pages and the star rating I’ve given the book. The best thing about The StoryGraph is that it tracks the genre, start and finish date, pace, mood and so much more. It always gives you a comprehensive list of stats if that is something you are interested in.

I do! I’ve always used the standard 5 stars rating system. I tend to use the below system for how I rate a book and have done for years. So, if you ever see my ratings know that this is probably my thoughts in relation to the stars given.

  • ★★★★★ = I loved the book and it blew me away!
  • ★★★★☆ = It is a great read, although there are a few things that didn’t work for me.
  • ★★★☆☆ = The book was “above average,” however there were elements I did not enjoy.
  • ★★☆☆☆ = There are a significant number of things I didn’t like, though I may still have liked some parts of this book.
  • ★☆☆☆☆ = I did not enjoy the book.

I do! Although I don’t review every single book I read. Any book that I do review, I post here on my blog. Most of my reviews are full length ones but at the end of each month I do a post full of mini-reviews of all the books I’ve read that month.

If I’ve loved them, I try and find them a place on my shelves. If I’ve not enjoyed them, they go in a pile of books I have to donate. I wish I could keep all of the books that I’ve read but I’ve just not got the space!

I go through a quick list of things. First, is marking it as ‘read’ on The StoryGraph, add it to my reading notebooks and then make a note of anything I enjoyed to add to a review. And, that is about it!

There you have it, the finished books tag! What are your rituals when you finish a book? Let me know in the comments below!
