Somehow we only have just over three months left of the year and I don’t understand how. I’ve managed to read 12 books in September which is more than I was expecting to. In this post, you will find a bunch of mini-reviews for the books I read in September. Here they are!

Daydream by Hannah Grace
When his procrastination lands him in a difficult class with his least favorite professor, Henry Turner knows he’s going to have to work extra hard to survive his junior year of college. And now with his new title of captain for the hockey team—which he didn’t even want—Henry absolutely cannot fail. Enter Halle Jacobs, a fellow junior who finds herself befriended by Henry when he accidentally crashes her book club.
Halle may not have the romantic pursuits of her favorite fictional leads, but she’s an academic superstar, and as soon as she hears about Henry’s problems with his class reading material, she offers to help. Too bad being a private tutor isn’t exactly ideal given her own studies, job, book club, and the novel she’s trying to write. But new experiences are the key to beating her writer’s block, and Henry’s promising to be the one to give them to her.
They just need to stick to their rule book.
Oh, and not fall in love.

This was my most anticipated book of the year so the minute I got my hands on it, I started reading it and I loved it! Halle and Henry are adorable and I loved reading about them both. Hannah Grace is one of my favourite authors and I’d be so happy if there was another book in this series.

What a Way to Go by Bella Mackie
One wealth-obsessed man – who is also dead.
One status-obsessed woman – who is the perfect accessory.
Their four inheritance-obsessed children – each with a killer instinct.
And a murder-obsessed outsider looking to expose them all…

I loved Bella Mackie’s previous book so I was excited to give her new one a read. This one is slightly different from her previous but I loved the concept and the way it all plays out. It is mysterious, fast-paced and full of characters you love to hate. I’ve written a full review of this one, which you can find here.

When Haru Was Here by Dustin Thao
After the death of his best friend, Eric Ly creates imaginary scenarios in his head to deal with his grief. Until one of them becomes real when a boy he met last summer in Japan finds his way back into his life. When he least expects it, Haru Tanaka walks into the coffee shop and sits down next to him. The only thing is, nobody else can see him.
In a magical turn of events, Eric suddenly has someone to connect with, making him feel less alone in the world. But as they spend more and more time together, he begins to question what is real. When he starts losing control of the very thing that is holding him together, Eric must finally confront his reality. Even if it means losing Haru forever.

This is such a heart-breaking novel that you 100% need tissues handy when reading. But the heart-break is so worth it. It is a beautiful portrayal of grief and tells a stunning story. I’ve written a full review of it which you can find here, and I’d highly recommend giving it a read.

The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But, it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come they’ve begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie.
What Cassie doesn’t realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides—especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms close. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.

After loving The Inheritance Games by the same author, I wanted to give another of her series a go. This one is about using a set of people’s skills to catch serial killers and it was as gripping as it sounds. It was fast-paced and thrilling and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

The Love Dare by Abiola Bello
Clumsy but popular Eva Ojo is used to men falling for her without her trying. So when her best friend dares her to talk to a guy at Notting Hill Carnival , she meets Saint.
Comic obsessed Saint Rowe-Falade connects with Eva and agrees to attend her upcoming birthday party, but it’s soon clear he’s not interested in her in that way.
When Eva’s friends set her the ultimate bet to get Saint to fall in love with her, Eva makes it her mission to find out all of Saint’s interests and even get a job at the comic book shop he works at. But just as Saint starts to warm to Eva, and her own feelings towards him develop, Saint finds out about the bet. Can Eva pull out the big guns and convince Saint she’s into him, or is it too late to fix the damage that’s been done?

After reading Abiola Bello’s Christmas novels, I was exciting she was releasing a book set in summer. It works just as well as the Christmas novels and I loved the characters and their story. Also, I loved the little easter eggs to her previous novels as well. I’ve written a full review of this one which you can find here.
