Most Anticipated Books of 2019 – Part One

Number of.png

With 2019 drawing closer and closer I got thinking about  my most anticipated books of 2019. I discovered I had a lot of anticipated books for the new year because of that I have split my list into two parts. Each part is going to have five of my most anticipated books of 2019. Here is part one!

Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. McManus

40099425“Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows.

The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone’s declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.”

I spoke about this book recently in my January releases post but it really is one of my most anticipated books of 2019. I love a good YA thriller and especially if they are written well and are constantly getting good reviews. This one is getting incredible reviews so far so I cannot wait to read it!

Slay on Tour by Kim Curran

42391879“SLAY are BACK…and this time they’re headed to Tokyo to track down another hell-raising demon. When they’re invited on tour with a super-cool band of holographic girls, SLAY find themselves whisked off around Japan – until strange things start happening on their tour train. Suddenly it seems it’s not just SLAY’s fans following their every move…”

Another of the books I mentioned on my January releases post. I cannot wait to get reading this book! I loved the first Slay book and as soon as I finished it I wanted to read more about Slay! I will be picking this book up as soon as I can and then dedicating all my free time to reading it!

10/01/19 – Pre-Order Here

On the Come Up by Angie Thomas

38116316“Sixteen-year-old Bri wants to be one of the greatest rappers of all time. Or at least make it out of her neighbourhood one day. As the daughter of an underground rap legend who died before he hit big, Bri’s got big shoes to fill. But now that her mom has unexpectedly lost her job, food banks and shutoff notices are as much a part of Bri’s life as beats and rhymes. With bills piling up and homelessness staring her family down, Bri no longer just wants to make it—she has to make it.”

I have been excited about this book ever since Angie outlined the plot at a The Hate U Give event back in early 2017. I love Angie Thomas’ writing and feel her books and the topics they cover really need a lot of recognition in this day and age. I cannot wait to finally read this book.

05/02/19 – Pre-Order Here

Fierce Fragile Hearts by Sara Barnard

39354084“Two years after a downward spiral took her as low as you can possibly go, Suzanne is starting again. Again. She’s back in Brighton, the only place she felt she belonged, back with her best friends Caddy and Rosie. But they’re about to leave for university. When your friends have been your light in the darkness, what happens when you’re the one left behind?”

I am actually currently reading this book and I am loving it. I am loving being back with Suzanne, Caddy and Rosie. This is the sequel I always wanted, from the perspective of Suzanne! Sara’s writing seems to bring me so much happiness (as well as sadness sometimes) and I cannot wait to read more of this book. I also cannot wait to see this book out in the world.

07/02/19 – Pre-Order Here

Children of Virtue and Vengance (Legacy of Orisha #2) by Tomi Adeyemi

39122774Synopsis of the first book in the series “Zélie Adebola remembers when the soil of Orïsha hummed with magic. Burners ignited flames, Tiders beckoned waves, and Zélie’s Reaper mother summoned forth souls.

But everything changed the night magic disappeared. Under the orders of a ruthless king, maji were killed, leaving Zélie without a mother and her people without hope.”

This isn’t usually the sort of book I gravitate towards reading but I picked this book up in Summer and I fell in love! The world is built and described incredibly! The story is written beautifully and I just didn’t want to put the book down. I cannot wait to read the second instalment in this amazing series.
