I have not done a book tag in an awfully long time and I don’t know why! I love taking part in book tags and they are always a lot of fun! So, when Sarah tagged me in the unpopular opinions book tag, I couldn’t wait to answer the questions. Thank you to Sarah for tagging me in this! Here is the unpopular opinions book tag!
A popular book or series you didn’t like!
I have talked about not enjoying this book quite a few times, The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins. I picked this book up because so many people talked about how excellent it was and how everyone needed to read it. Around half way through the book I had figured out the twist and was incredibly disappointed with the book overall. I didn’t understand the hype and don’t think I ever will.
A popular book or series everyone hated but you loved!
I think people weren’t a fan of this series, The 5th Wave series by Rick Yancey. I enjoyed this series when I read them a few years ago. Something about them just grabbed my attention. Although I was not a fan of the last book in the series, it felt rushed and didn’t work for me. I still enjoyed the series a lot overall! I remember watching the movie adaptation quite recently and not being impressed!
A love triangle where the main character ended up with the person you didn’t want them to end up with. Or an OTP that you didn’t like!
I cannot for the life of me think of an answer for this question. I don’t have many OTPs and although I do hate the love triangle trope, the character normally ends up the person I want them too.
A popular book genre that you hardly reach for!
Fantasy! I am not a huge fan of fantasy book and can never get my head around all the brand new worlds in fantasy books. I do read fantasy books very occasionally but it is a genre I hardly ever reach for!
A popular or beloved character you didn’t like!
I wasn’t a huge fan of Margo from Papertowns by John Green. There is something about her I am just not a fan of and as a result I just don’t enjoy her character. I love Papertowns as a novel though and flew through it when I was reading it!
A popular author that you can’t seem to get into!
Phillip Pullman. Don’t kill me please! I feel because I am not a huge fantasy fan this is one of the reasons I am not a fan of Phillip Pullman. I never got into his books as child and don’t plan on picking them up as an adult now. I’m sure his books are excellent to some people, just not to me.
A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing!
Insta-love. I am not a fan whatsoever of this trope. I don’t believe that it would ever happen and last. Books that have the characters fall-in-love within a day annoys me more than anything else!
A popular series that you have no interest in reading!
Any Cassandra Clare series to be honest. I have never been a fan of her work and I know a lot of people will be unhappy with me thinking this. The only thing is I am not a fan of fantasy books or long series. To be quite honest the thought of reading her series scare me because she has a lot of books!
The saying goes “the book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or TV adaptation do you prefer more than the book!
Forrest Gump. This is such an easy question to answer for me. I love the movie of Forrest Gump so much and can quite easily recite all the world. When it came to reading the book I wasn’t a fan at all. So, in this case I will always say the movie of Forrest Gump is better than the book!

I’m so tired of Insta-love too! There’s nothing better than a slow-burn romance 😍👏🏻

I was so excited to see you picked Forrest Gump! SAME. I loved the movie so much I snagged a used copy of the book and then didn’t care for it at all.

Thanks so much for the tag!! 🙂 I agree with a bunch of your answers. I’m not sure how I’d feel about The 5th Wave if I read it now just because I feel like I’ve moved away from sci-fi, but I enjoyed it a couple of years ago. I also am not a big fan of Margo at all!

Some great answers! I’ve been reading Cassandra Clare book for years but even I’m getting to the point where I’m starting to feel very ‘done’ with them, they’re so huge!

Hahaha they are either huge or just huge series and it terrifies me just a bit!

Insta-love definitely needs to die off. Also, I definitely don’t blame you for not wanting to read Cassandra Clare books. I read enough that now I can’t even think of reading more of her books to be honest.

It really does! I’m glad other people feel similar about Cassandra Clare!

Definitely agree about Paper Towns and Philip Pullman! I don’t know if it’s because I read his books when I was older but I just didn’t enjoy them at all!

I just don’t think I’ll ever pick up a Phillip Pullman book!
