What I Read in November!

What I Rea

How is 2019 already almost over! I can’t quite believe that November is almost over. It has been another blink and you’ll miss it months. I did quite a lot this month and read a lot of books! Here is what I read in November!LinePermanent Record by Mary H.K Choi

“After a year of college, Pablo is working at his local twenty-four-hour deli, selling overpriced snacks to brownstone yuppies. He’s dodging calls from the student loan office and he has no idea what his next move is.

Leanna Smart’s life so far has been nothing but success. Age eight: Disney Mouseketeer; Age fifteen: first #1 single on the US pop chart; Age seventeen, *tenth* #1 single; and now, at Age nineteen…life is a queasy blur of private planes, weird hotel rooms, and strangers asking for selfies on the street.

When Leanna and Pab randomly meet at 4:00 a.m. in the middle of a snowstorm in Brooklyn, they both know they can’t be together forever. “

I had very expectations for this one and felt quite let down. It was a lot of fun to read though and I did enjoy reading it. I have written a full review of this book which was published a few days ago and you can find that here.

★★★

All the Bad Apples by Moïra Fowley-Doyle

2019-11-01 03.19.32 1.jpg

“When Deena’s wild and mysterious sister Mandy disappears – presumed dead – her family are heartbroken. But Mandy has always been troubled. It’s just another bad thing to happen to Deena’s family. Only Deena refuses to believe it’s true.

And then the letters start arriving. Letters from Mandy, claiming that their family’s blighted history is not just bad luck or bad decisions – but a curse, handed down through the generations. Mandy has gone in search of the curse’s roots, and now Deena must find her. What they find will heal their family’s rotten past – or rip it apart forever.”

What an incredible book! I flew right the way through this one and loved it throughly. This is my first book by Moïra that I have read and it will most certainly not be the last. I cannot wait to discuss this at The Little Contemporary Corner’s LGBTQ+ book club soon!

Half-way through the month I read a huge amount of Graphic Novels! I thought I would just mention these quickly! They were:

  • The Lady Doctor by Ian Williams ★★★
  • The Bad Doctor by Ian Williams ★★★
  • My Brother’s Husband Voume 2 by Gengoroh Tagame ★★★
  • Blankets by Craig Thompson ★★★
  • Stargazing by Jen Wang ★★★★★
  • Seconds by Bryan Lee O’Malley ★★★
  • I Love This Part by Tillie Walden ★★

I loved all these graphic novels and I can’t believe I read so many this month and hope to read even more next month!

Are You Watching? by Vincent Ralph

46194945.jpgTen years ago, Jess’s mother was murdered by the Magpie Man.

She was the first of his victims but not the last.

Now Jess is the star of a YouTube reality series and she’s using it to catch the killer once and for all.

The whole world is watching her every move.

And so is the Magpie Man.”

You are in for a treat when this is published next year! I feel so lucky to have been able to read this early and let me tell you I flew right the way through it and couldn’t put it down. What a spectacular debut novel! I cannot wait to see what else Vincent Ralph writes in the future!
