I love a library not only because I work in one but also because I love books, the community and all that they offer. So, when I saw the Library Lover’s book tag when searching the internet the other day (I’m unsure where this one originated), I knew that I had to give it a go. Here is the library lover’s book tag!

How often do you visit your local library?
Technically I am at my local library every single day because I work there! This means I have access to all the books we have here whenever I want, which is such an amazing thing that I’ll never take for granted. Other than that though I do visit other libraries near to me whenever I am free, normally a new one each month, to see what they have to offer as well!
Are you the type of person who checks out more books than you can read or are you someone who checks out the exact amount of books you intend to read before they are due?
I’m bad for this but I check out absolutely anything that I think I might have an interest in reading. This means that quite often I have a full card of library books at home. It is a bad habit to have because it means I carry books out to sit on my shelves and then bring them back weeks later.

Over the first lockdown I had 30 library books in my house and only read around 10. I am hoping to get on top of this habit though and just borrow what I am going to read.
How old were you when you got your first library card?
I think I must have been around 4 or 5. I have very fond memories of going to my local libraries as a child and being involved in all the activities that they ran. I remember doing the summer reading challenge one year 4 times over because I loved reading and going to the library so much. I think libraries have always been in my blood and always will be!
Do you go to your library for a particular book or do you check out anything that piques your interest?
The joy of working in a library means that you have first dibs on all the new books that come into the library. But, this also means that I am a sucker for taking literally anything that piques my interest. It has been a way that I have found so many new and amazing authors though so that is a plus!
Do you only check out books or do you also get DVDs, audiobooks, etc.?
I am currently listening to an audiobook that I got on BorrowBox, thanks to my library membership. I am always listening to audiobooks from the library as well as borrowing eBooks. I have occasionally taken DVDs out of the library but in the age of streaming this is very infrequent.
What section of the library do you check out most of your books from?
Mainly I borrow books from the YA section of the library, but I have taken out general fiction books and the occasional crime/thriller novel. Also, I frequently take out True Crime books from the non-fiction section of the library. But, YA books are my most taken out category.
What is your favourite part of using your local library?
It has so many perks! I mean the books are available to your for free and save you so much money. I cannot imagine how much money I have saved thanks to borrowing books. It has such a community spirit and events that are run for the local community and I love taking part in them.
Then, on the side of working in a library I love seeing other customers happy with the books they are borrowing, the work that have done or how happy just being part of the library community makes them feel. It is wonderful!

That is the Library Lover’s book tag! Do you have a local library and enjoy going? Let me know in the comments below!

Excellent tag!
I haven’t been in a library for over a year and I miss them so much.
