It is my first book haul of the year, even if it is books I bought last year! I thought that this haul was going to be a lot larger than it actually is, so I am surprised. I hauled 14 books throughout December. This haul consists of presents for myself and a couple of books gifted by friends. Here is my December book haul!

I started the month out very well when it comes to book buying and did absolutely none, but as the month went on I began buying books and couldn’t stop. The first book I picked up this month was, A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. I picked this one up completely randomly in a Waterstones and was sold by the synopsis. It just sounds so intriguing. On the same day I took a trip into The Works and took advantage of their 3 for £5 deal. I picked up Pretending by Holly Bourne as this as been on my wish list for quite a while. Also, The Phone Box at the End of the World by Laura Imai Messina because it has been recommended to me a lot. Lastly, Talk Bookish to Me by Kate Bromley because I just needed a little bit of predictable romance!
Later into the month, David and I went to do some Christmas shopping and of course we tripped into some bookshops. I picked up Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan as I’ve been meaning to read it for such a long time. Also, Last Tang Standing by Lauren Ho because it was right next to Crazy Rich Asians and sounded amazing. On the recommendation of a few people I picked up Lonely Castle in the Mirror by Mizuki Tsujimura which I am so excited to read. The last book I picked up that trip was The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer which is another I’ve had my eyes on for a long while now.
For Christmas, my wonderful friend Sarah (who knows me incredibly well) gifted me a couple of books. The Definitive Spider-Man: Rebooted which sounds amazing. I cannot wait to sit down and just read Spider-Man comics for a couple of hours. Also, she bought me In the Heights: Finding Home which I am so excited about. We saw the film together earlier on in the year and loved it and it is the perfect gift for a Lin-Manuel Miranda fan.
Finally this month, I had to take advantage of Waterstones’ half-price hardbacks sale. I went on the last day and picked up 4 books. I picked up Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe and I read it immediately and completely understand the hype. I picked up The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris and Careless by Kirsty Capes as they came highly recommended. Last but not least I picked up The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa because I’ve had my eye on it for the longest time!
Overall, I ended the month with 14 more books than I started! I’ve read a couple and plan on getting to the others soon.

What books did you buy in December and what books are you excited for in January? Let me know in the comments!

I loved Crazy Rich Asians. I hope you enjoy all of these!
