Happy New Year everyone! It is the first day of 2022 and I am looking forward to for a brand new year and what it has in store. Don’t get me wrong, I am also terrified about what it has in store but I’m staying positive. I’m generally hopeful for the year to come. I thought to start out the year, it would be perfect to do a little New Years book tag which I found on Cleopatra Loves Books. Here is the New Years Book Tag!

How many books are you planning on reading in 2022?
I’ve set my Goodreads and Storygraph challenge goals at 50 books this year. I managed to read 115 books in 2021. So, I feel as though 50 books for the entirety of 2022 gives me enough room to enjoy myself with my reading and not push myself to meet a goal. If necessary, I can always up my goal if I do reach it early on into the year.
Name five books you didn’t get to read in 2021 but want to make a priority in 2022?
There are so many books that I bought in 2021 that I really should have read straight away but didn’t. I feel like so many of us can relate to that though. So, it is safe to say there are many more than 5 that I want to read in 2022. If I had to narrow it down to 5 that I definitely want to read in 2022, they would have to be:

- The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
- Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer
- Carry On by Rainbow Rowell
- Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney
- The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Name a genre you want to read more of in 2022?
I’m going to go with the genre I did last year for this one which was Sci-Fi. I want to read more sci-fi books in 2022. I love sci-fi books but I don’t read anywhere near enough and I would like to change that. I’d also like to give more fantasy books a go in 2022.
Three non-book related goals for 2022
I’d love to have a lot of our house re-decoration finished by the end of 2022 but I don’t want to rush this for the sake of it. I would love to visit Lanzarote this year after a few years of being unable to go. I know that this might not happen but I can be hopeful. Finally, I’d love to pick up even more skills and improve myself in my job.
What’s a book you’ve had forever that you still need to read?
I am going to say 1984 by George Orwell. That may seem like a completely random one but it comes highly recommend by my boyfriend and friends. It has been on my TBR and book shelves (unread) for way to long now so I need to finally read it.
One word that you hope 2021 will be?
Hopeful!

There you have it! The New Years Book Tag! Hope you had a wonderful New Year and have a wonderful 2022!
