What’s On My Netgalley TBR?

I’ve finally got my Netgalley TBR down to just a few books which is something I never thought I’d be able to do. I’ve got to stop requesting books and ending up with a never-ending TBR! I started writing these posts each month to see what was on my Netgalley TBR and hold me accountable when I haven’t read them on time. Here are the books on my Netgalley shelf / TBR!

The Love Wager by Lynn Painter

After crawling out of a hotel room (hello, rock bottom), she decides it’s time to become a full-on adult.

She gets a new apartment, a new haircut, and a new wardrobe. But when she logs into the dating app to look for new love, she finds none other than Jack: the guy whose hotel room she’d snuck out of.

After agreeing they are absolutely not interested in each other, Jack and Hallie realise that they’re each other’s perfect wing-person – and join forces in their searches for The One. They even make a wager to see who can find true love first.

But when they agree to be fake dates for a weekend wedding, all bets are off.

Because as they pretend to be a couple, they struggle to remember why dating for real was a bad idea to begin with…

Lynn Painter has very quickly become an auto-buy author for me. So, when I saw that she had another novel coming out I had to request it. This one sounds excellent, with some of my favourite tropes and a wager on who can find love first. I’m sure this one is going to be excellent!

She is a Haunting by Trang Tranh Tran

Jade Nguyen has always lied to fit in. She’s straight enough, Vietnamese enough, American enough – at least for this summer with her estranged father in Vietnam. Just five weeks of ignoring the quietly decaying French colonial house he’s fixing up, then college and freedom are hers.

But soon Jade begins waking up every morning certain that something has clawed down her throat … from the inside. Then the ghost of a beautiful bride visits her with a cryptic warning: DON’T EAT.

When her father and little sister don’t believe her, Jade decides to scare them into leaving by staging some haunting events of her own. She recruits Florence, the daughter of her dad’s business associate (and more of a distraction than Jade bargained for) to help.

But the house has other plans. It’s hungry. A home, after all, is only as powerful as those who breathe new life into its bones. And this one is determined never to be abandoned again …

This book sounds spectacular! It sounds horrific and haunting plus it seems as though it will discuss a lot of important topics. I’ve just started to read this one and I cannot wait to share my thoughts on it. It is already getting some amazing reviews, so I can’t wait!

A Million to One by Adiba Jaigirdar

Four friends have stolen aboard the Titanic. They’re after the Rubaiyat – a book inlaid with priceless jewels. Josefa is a charismatic thief, Hinnah a daring acrobat, Violet an outstanding actress and Emilie a talented artist.

It is Josefa’s plan, but she needs all of their skills. Despite their very different backgrounds, in a world of first-class passengers and suspicious crew members, the girls must work together to pull off the heist of their lives.

But careless mistakes, old grudges and new romances threaten to jeopardise everything they’ve worked towards. And with the Titanic sailing ever further north, the girls’ chances of survival are a million to one…

I’ve been so excited about this one ever since it was announced. I’ve loved Adiba Jaigirdar’s previous books and this one sounds like it will be a truly thrilling read. I started reading it a couple of days ago and I’m enjoying it so far. I’m looking forward to seeing what I think of the rest of the book and sharing my thoughts!

Happy Place by Emily Henry

Harriet and Wyn are the perfect couple – they go together like bread and butter, gin and tonic, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.

Every year for the past decade, they have run away from their lives to drink far too much wine and soak up the sea air with their favourite people in the world.

Except this year, they are lying through their teeth. Harriet and Wyn broke up six months ago. And they still haven’t told anyone.

But this is the last time they’ll all be together here. The cottage is for sale, and since they can’t bear to break their best friends’ hearts, they’ll fake it for one more week.

But how can you pretend to be in love – and get away with it – in front of the people who know you best?

This is one of my most anticipated releases of 2023. I’ve adored every book that I’ve read by Emily Henry and this one sounds just as amazing. I am waiting for the weather to get a little warmer before diving into this one but I cannot wait to read it and share my thoughts.
