Romance Reader Book Tag

Happy Sunday everyone. I love nothing more on a Sunday than to cosy up under a blanket with a book. In particular, with a romance book. So, I thought it would be very fitting to do the Romance Reader book tag, which I found a little while ago. Here is the Romance Reader book tag!

It was the YA romance Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler. I remember picking it up from the Waterstones in Manchester when I was around 13. The YA section at time was barely even one shelf. I adored it and following reading it pestered my Mum to take me back to go to the shop to buy more books.

It was One Day by David Nicholls. I loved it so much and I’m so glad that I finally picked it up. I’d had my eye on it for ages but watching the TV adaptation had me picking it up immediately after finishing the show. If you haven’t read it or watched the show yet, I cannot recommend them enough.

The following would be some of my top 5 romance book recommendations. I loved all of these and have recommended them a number of times since reading them. They are:

  • The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston
  • Happy Place by Emily Henry
  • Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh
  • Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon
  • Good Material by Dolly Alderton

I’m going to say The Good Part by Sophie Cousens. I read this one very recently and have heard nothing about it at all. It is such a good romance books and I think more people should be picking it up and reading it.

I know this will likely offend people but It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. I think it was awful and does not deserve any of the hype it gets.

Anything that Emily Henry writes I will buy. Her books are always amazing. They’ve made me laugh and cry and I am forever recommending them to people. So, she is certainly an auto-buy author.

My favourite romance trope has always been fake dating. Nothing beats it in my opinion and I’m almost certain to love any book with it as a trope. I am always on the hunt for new fake dating stories too and don’t think I’ll ever get bored of them.

I would have to say insta-love. It more often than not is way too rushed and I end up not enjoying it. It is a trope I tend to avoid.

I know it isn’t strictly just a romance book but my favourite would have to be The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I adore this book with all my heart and believe it deserves all the love in the world!

  1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is such a beautiful novel. And It Ends With Us is definitely overrated. Actually, I’m going to be a hater and day that Colleen Hoover is very overrated in general. I don’t understand the fascination with her books, I’ve read so much better.
