I’m always on the look out for a new book tag to try. So, when I saw the In or Out book tag on ZeZee with Books, I knew I had to give it a try. It talks about all sorts of trends and trope and if you think they are in or out which sounds fun. So, here is the In or Out book tag!
Reading the last page first
Out – Absolutely not! I feel like this ruins the entire book. I saw someone read the last chapter of a brand new release whilst sat in a cafe a few days ago and I couldn’t believe it. Why would you do that!
Enemies to lovers
In – I will happily pick up any enemies to lovers book. I adore the trope and all the different ways that it can be done. It is up there in my top tropes at the moment.
Dream sequences
In – I’ve not read many of them if I’m honest. But, I do feel like it would be something I’d love more of in books. My only request is that it is incorporated well and doesn’t feel like it has been added for no reason.
Love triangles
Out – They aren’t something I enjoy at all. I think they are annoying and never really add anything to the story for me. If I could avoid them, I absolutely would.
Cracked spines
Out – I never crack the spines of the books I’m reading, I just can’t do it. I don’t mind other people cracking the spines of their own books but please don’t do it with mine.
Rereading
In – I love rereading books. I’m actually rereading one at the moment and loving it. I love going back to my favourite books, seeing if my thoughts on it have changed and just going back to my favourite characters.
Happy ending
In – I love a happy ending. I don’t mind an unhappy ending but enjoy happy ending much more. I feel like they just bring me more joy which I often need.
Unreliable narrators
In – I really enjoy unreliable narrators because you never know what to trust. I think they add an element of suspense to the entire book which always keeps me intrigued.
Long chapters
Out – No thank you! I prefer shorter chapters. I feel like with long chapters, they lose my interest and it takes me longer to read a book. Short chapters keep my attention and make the book more quick-paced. So, I’ll pick short chapters any day.
Signed copies
In – I love a signed copy, especially if it is of one of my favourite books or by one of my favourite authors. I don’t always buy signed copies but I love them when I do.
Dog-earing pages
Out – Never ever will I dog-ear a page. I hate it and how it makes a book look.
Chapter titles instead of numbers
In – I am quite the fan of this. I don’t have a preference for one or the other but I do enjoy when the chapter titles are quite funny.

Sometimes I read the last page 🙈🙈 That’s generally if I’m not enjoying a book or want to know if it’s worth reading haha. I’m with you on love triangles, I tend to avoid those books.
