20 Questions Book Tag

Book Tag

Hello all! Hope you are well and keeping yourselves safe. Whilst all this has been happening I’ve been struggling to sit down and read so don’t have any reviews to write but I have been feeling creative. I thought it would be the perfect time to do a book tag to get myself thinking and because they are always a lot of fun. I found this one just by Googling ‘Book Tag’. So, here is the 20 Questions Book Tag!

Line1) How many books are too many for a series?

Any series that go over three books for me is too much. I can only keep my interest in a series for around 3 books. I am not really one for series in the first place as it is so when the series are between 2 and 3 books I am much more likely to read them rather than if they are 4+ books long.

2) How do you feel about cliffhangers?

You know what I don’t really mind if a book or chapter ends on a cliffhanger. If it is a chapter it is the reason I am more than likely to keep reading. If it is the end of the book it means I am more than likely to pick up the next book. Or, if it is a cliffhanger and there won’t be another book I love to think of ideas in my head about what might have happened. So, I don’t mind cliffhangers at all.

3) Hardbacks or Paperback?

I like both! I like reading paperbacks because they are easier to read and cheaper. But, I do like collecting hardbacks. They are beautiful and I think they really add to a shelf and a collection!

4) Favourite Book?

Can I pick my top three instead please! They would have to be, The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James, I Was Born for This by Alice Oseman and To All the Boys I’ve Love Before by Jenny Han.

5) Least Favourite Book?

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins and thats all I will say about that.

6) Love Triangles, Yes or No?

I have a bit of a love hate relationship with love triangles. If they are written well then there is a 100% chance that I will love them. Sometimes in books though that just don’t work for me or don’t really fit into the story for me. They are definitely an either love or hate thing for me.

7) The Most Recent Book You Couldn’t Finish?

I can’t remember the last time I didn’t finish a book. I always finish what I read. It makes me quite anxious to have half read books and I don’t know why.

8) A Book you are Currently Reading?

I am currently reading Hold Back the Tide by Melinda Salisbury and I am loving it. I actually got to a shocking part of it the other day in the garden and literally fell out of my chair. It is wonderful!

9) Last Book you Recommended to Someone?

I can’t actually remember but it is most likely The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James! I am recommeneding that book to everyone. Are you reading this post now? Have you read The Loneliest Girl in the Universe? Yes? Excellent! No? I am recommending it to you, it is amazing!

10) Oldest Book you’ve Read by Publication Date?

I am going to have to say Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I’m not one for classics but this one was one we had to read in high school and I actually quite enjoyed it back then.

11) Newest Book you’ve Read by Publication Date?

That would have to be The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper. It is currently out in the USA which is where I got my copy from, but it isn’t out in the UK until, I believe, May. It is excellent and there is a review for it on my blog at the minute from my wonderful friend Sarah from The Little Contemporary Corner.

12) Favourite Author?

There are so many authors that I love and I would class as some of my favourites. So, I am going to list my auto-buy authors and they are:

  • Lauren James
  • Alice Oseman
  • Maggie Harcourt
  • Angie Thomas
  • Becky Albertalli
  • Jennifer Niven
  • Nicola Yoon
  • Sara Barnard
  • Akemi Dawn Bowman

13) Buying Books or Borrowing Books?

At the moment I do both! I love buying books and being in a book shop with books it is wonderful. But, now that I work in a library I borrow an awful lot of books. Now that I am trying to save up money for a house too I am going to be borrowing a lot more books in the future. It is such a good service both in person in a library and on the online library. So, in short I like both buying and borrowing books!

14) A Book you Dislike but Everyone seems to Love?

Anything high fantasy…

15) Bookmarks or Dog-Ears?

Bookmarks always. I never dog-ear books. I have a little mug of bookmarks on my bedside table to use whenever I need one. I do use anything I can grab for a bookmark though, like a receipt. But I will never dog-ear books.

16) A Book you can always Re-Read?

Any of the Harry Potter books are ones I can re-read at any point in time. Also, I love reading the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series. It brings me so much joy to re-read some of my favourite books and series. Sometimes re-reading books gets me out of a reading slump too!

17) Can you Read while Listening to Music?

I am more often than not listening to music whilst I am reading. I might even have the TV on or Netflix on in the background. I can’t concentrate on my reading if I am just reading it is quite weird but I do enjoy it.

18) One POV or Multiple?

I love a bit of both. A multiple POV book isn’t something I won’t pick up but isn’t something I actively seek out. If a book is one POV or multiple but it is something I want to read then it won’t bother me at all.

19) Do you Read a Book in One Sitting or Over Multiple Days?

I love doing both. If I am really into a book and have the time then I can power through it in one sitting. If not I will read them in multiple sittings. It is more the likely that any books I’ve read will have been in multiple sittings as I don’t get much time to read when I am working. I do love doing both though.

20) Who do you Tag?

I am going to tag the following people and anyone else who wants a little bit of fun answering some questions!

Line

That was such a fun little tag to do! If anyone has any tags they would love to see me do or tag me in let me know in the comments!

Happy Reading

  1. Nice post, I might have to go ahead and do this one too. Seems like we share some similarities. I can’t stand not finishing a book however I’m learning that I should DNF when I’m really really struggling because there are SO MANY books I want to read it doesn’t make sense to spend time reading something I’m not enjoying at all.

No high fantasy eh? We’re different there. What don’t you like about it?

I have Netflix on in the background often as well although I’m not sure it always helps me focus. πŸ™‚

    Thanks for sharing.

    1. I can’t focus on high fantasy. It’s just too much. I can’t get my head around the concept and the new worlds. I just stick to contemporary because my brain can comprehend that! Its an odd one!
