A few days ago I shared a couple of posts all about my most anticipated releases of 2021. Part one is here and part two is here! I shared a couple of UKYA releases in those lists but I wanted to save a lot of them for their very own posts. There are so many incredible UKYA releases that are being released throughout this year and I really want to spread the word about them!
I am going to split this post into two so I can give each book the spotlight that they deserves. Keep you eyes out for part two in a couple of days. For now, here is part one of UKYA releases to look out for.

Gut Feelings by C.G Moore

At school, I learned that words, More than weapons, Could destroy bodies, Could break hearts More than fists or fury. This is the story of Chris, what happened to him at age eleven and how that would change the rest of his life. A life-affirming and powerful coming of age verse novel that shines a light on chronic illness, who we are and how we live. Familial adenomatous polyposis, an inherited disorder characterised by the rapid growth of small, pre-cancerous polyps in the large intestines.
I am so excited for this book to be in the world. I cannot wait to give it a read and watch the virtual launch this weekend. C.G. Moore’s books always tackle important and heavy topics and I am looking forward to seeing what topics are tackled in this one, as I am going to be promoting it in the library a lot!

The Infinity Courts by Akemi Dawn Bowman

Eighteen-year-old Nami Miyamoto is certain her life is just beginning. She has a great family, just graduated high school, and is on her way to a party where her entire class is waiting for her–including, most importantly, the boy she’s been in love with for years.
The only problem? She’s murdered before she gets there.
When Nami wakes up, she learns she’s in a place called Infinity, where human consciousness goes when physical bodies die. She quickly discovers that Ophelia, a virtual assistant widely used by humans on Earth, has taken over the afterlife and is now posing as a queen, forcing humans into servitude the way she’d been forced to serve in the real world. Even worse, Ophelia is inching closer and closer to accomplishing her grand plans of eradicating human existence once and for all.
Akemi never fails to write beautiful, eye-opening and heart-breaking novels so of course her new novel is one to look out for. This is Akemi’s first time writing a sci-fi / fantasy novel and I am excited to see where she goes with this. I will definitely be ordering myself a copy and reading it as soon as I can.

The Deep-Sea Duke by Lauren James

Hugo is spending the holidays on his friend Dorian’s home planet, Hydrox. Although thrilled at the invitation, Hugo is still astonished that Duke Dorian could possibly want to be friends with an android watchmaker like him. But when the pair land on Hydrox along with their friend Ada, they soon discover that there are much bigger problems afoot. A race of butterflies from a neighbouring star system have evacuated their now-uninhabitable planet, and Hydrox is struggling to find space for the growing number of refugees. Meanwhile, deep in the seas beneath Dorian’s home, a strange creature is on a path of destruction … Can the unlikely trio step in before the crisis gets out of control?
This book is the sequel to The Starlight Watchmaker. If you have yet to read the first in the series, I cannot recommend it enough. It is adorable and beautiful and is the reason I am so excited about the sequel. I cannot wait to see where Lauren takes the story and the characters. Keep your eyes out for this one!

Heartstopper Volume 4 by Alice Oseman

Charlie didn’t think Nick could ever like him back, but now they’re officially boyfriends. Charlie’s beginning to feel ready to say those three little words: I love you.
Nick’s been feeling the same, but he’s got a lot on his mind – not least coming out to his dad, and the fact that Charlie might have an eating disorder.
As summer turns to autumn and a new school year begins, Charlie and Nick are about to learn a lot about what love means.
Of course I couldn’t talk about UKYA books without mentioning the wonderful Alice Oseman and her latest instalment in the Heartstopper series. This story is absolutely adorable and warms my heart every time I not only read the books but just glance at the artwork inside. It is a heart-warming story that I cannot wait to continue reading in volume 4.

Mark My Words by Muhammad Khan

Fifteen-year-old Dua Iqbal has always had trouble minding her own business. With a silver-tongue and an inquisitive nature, a career in journalism seems fated. When her school merges with another to form an Academy, Dua seizes her chance and sets up a rival newspaper, exposing the controversial stories that teachers and the kids who rule the school would rather keep buried.
Dua’s investigations are digging up things she shouldn’t get involved with about family, friends and her community and as exams rattle towards her, she needs to make some hard decisions about when to leave things alone. But when she discovers that some kids at school are being blamed for selling drugs when the real perpetrator is right in front of their noses, she can’t keep quiet any longer.
Over the years I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this author’s books and I feel this one is where I am going to start my love for their work. This book sounds so intriguing and interesting and seems to cover a lot of necessary topics. I am definitely going to be getting myself a copy of this book and think it is really one to keep an eye on.
