I absolutely love a fun book tag and when I saw this the other day, I wanted to give it a go! I cannot, despite a lot of searching, find where the orignal tag came from. So, if you happen to know, please let me know! This is a tag all about you book buying and book borrowing habits. Here is the book buying habits tag!
Where do you buy your books?
More often than not, I buy my books at Waterstones. I have one very close to my house, so it is very easy to visit and pick up books. Also, I use as many indie bookshops as I can. For example, I love Queerlit in Manchester, Words and Kisses and Ebb & Flo. If there is an indie bookshop in a place I’m visiting, I’ll make sure to visit too.
Do you ever pre-order books and if so, do you do this in store or online?
I am always pre-ordering books! I love supporting authors and their books. Also, it is always a lovely present to myself when a book arrives at my house which I’ve forgotten ordering!
On average, how many books do you buy a month?
This always varies. I’d love to say 5 per month but sometimes its a little more and sometimes its a lot more. Oops!
Do you use your local library?
Of course! I’d be a fool to not use my local library, especially when I work there. Libraries are such an amazing way of picking up books. I find myself using the library to pick up books that I’m unsure on buying a lot of the time. It is so much fun to visit a library, pick up books I wouldn’t usually and it saves me a lot of money!
If so, how many books do you borrow at a time?
I currently have 6 books out at the library. I am very lucky to I work there, because if something new comes in that I fancy, I can pick it up straightaway. Also, I use the e-book and audiobook app Libby via my library and always have a couple of books on there.
What is you opinion on library books?
They are amazing! I am a huge supporter of libraries and not only because I work there. They offer books to those who may not have access to them at home. They always have a huge selection and librarian’s give the best book recommendations, in my opinion!
How do you feel about second-hand book?
They are also amazing! They allow people to pick up books for cheaper which allows a lot more people to have access to books. I purchase a lot of second-hand books myself and will continue to do so!
Do you keep you read and TBR pile together or not?
No they are in separate areas of my room. I think it makes it easier to find a new book to read or one that I’ve already read and want to pass on to a friend.
Do you plan to read all the books you own?
I mean, that is the plan. Realistically though, I know it won’t happen as I just don’t have the time for the amount of books I have. I have started to be a bit more ruthless with my unhauling and if it isn’t something I would read now because I bought it a long time ago, I won’t keep it for the sake of it.
Have you ever donated books?
I do all the time!
Have you ever been on a book-buying ban?
I always try to go on book-buying bans and I always fail. I am hoping to go on a more strict one in the second half of the year but we shall see how that goes.
Do you feel that you buy too many books?
You can never buy too many books! If they make you happy, then you go buy them books!
