New Book Releases I’m Excited For – December

2022 is almost over. That means this is the last new book releases post for books coming out in 2022 and I can’t believe it. There are a lot of amazing new books coming out in December that I am excited about. I wanted to share some of the ones I’m most excited about, with you. Here are the new book releases I’m excited for in December!

The Poison Season by Mara Rutherford

Leelo has spent her entire life on Endla, coexisting with the bloodthirsty Forest and respecting the poisonous lake that protects her island from outsiders who seek to destroy it. But as much as Leelo cares for her community, she struggles to accept that her younger brother will be exiled by his next birthday, unless he gains the magic of enchanted song so vital to Endla.

When Leelo sees a young outsider on the verge of drowning in the lake, she knows exactly what she’s supposed to do. But in a moment that will change everything, Leelo betrays her family, her best friend, and Endla by making an unthinkable choice.

Discovery could lead to devastating consequences for both Leelo and the outsider, Jaren, but as they grow closer, Leelo realizes that not all danger comes from beyond the lake—and they can only survive if Leelo is willing to question the very fabric of her society, her people, and herself.

I cannot lie and say that it wasn’t the cover that first attracted me to this book because it certainly was. Then, after reading the synopsis I immediately added it to my TBR. It is certainly going to be a mysterious book with fantasy and romance elements throughout and I am here for that. Any story set on an isolated island because of a poisonous lake is one for me.

Witcha Gonna Do by Avery Flynn

Could it possibly get any worse than having absolutely no magical abilities when you’re a member of the most powerful family of witches ever? It used to be that I’d say no, but then I keep getting set up on dates with Gil Connolly whose hotness is only matched by his ego. Seriously. I can’t stand him. Even if I also can’t stop thinking about him (specifically kissing him) but we’re going to pretend I never told you that part.

So yeah, my life isn’t the greatest right now, but then it goes straight to the absolute worst hell when I accidentally make my sister’s spell glitch and curse my whole family. And the only person who can help non-magical me break the spell? You guessed it. Gil the super hot jerk.

Now we have to work together to save my family and outmaneuver some evil-minded nefarious forces bent on world domination. Oh yeah, and we have to do all that while fighting against the attraction building between us because I may not be magical, but what’s happening between Gil and I sure feels like it.

An enemies to lover, witchy romance? Yes please! This one sounds like it is going to be such a fun read. It is set in a small town and has one of my favourite tropes. I’ve heard some excellent things about Avery Flynn’s writing so I am looking forward to picking this one up.

Too Beautiful to Break by Tessa Bailey

Leaving Belmont Clarkson is the hardest thing Sage Alexander has ever done. From the moment they met, she knew Belmont was the one, and getting up close and personal with him on his family’s epic road trip has taken her desire to a new, even hotter level. But there’s no way she can go there—not without revealing secrets that could devastate them both.

Losing Sage is not an option. Belmont’s heart is hers, has always been hers. He knows she’s hiding something from him, but nothing will stand in his way of telling her just how much she means to him. Finding her is easy—saving her from her past could cost him everything.

Now I know that technically this one has been released for a while. But, it is getting re-released with a new cover, so I am adding it to this list. I have enjoyed all the Tessa Bailey books I’ve read in the past and know she can be relied on for a good romance book. This one brings two childhood best friends together and it sounds excellent. I’m looking forward to reading this one.

Five Survive by Holly Jackson

Eight hours.
Six friends.
One sniper . . .

Eighteen year old Red and her friends are on a road trip in an RV, heading to the beach for Spring Break. It’s a long drive but spirits are high. Until the RV breaks down in the middle of nowhere. There’s no mobile phone reception and nobody around to help. And as the wheels are shot out, one by one, the friends realise that this is no accident. There’s a sniper out there in the dark watching them and he knows exactly who they are. One of the group has a secret that the sniper is willing to kill for.

A game of cat-and-mouse plays out as the group desperately tries to get help and to work out which member of the group is the target. Buried secrets are forced to light in the cramped, claustrophobic setting of the RV, and tensions within the group will reach deadly levels. Not everyone will survive the night.

This book has got me very intrigued. I was not the biggest fan of the series Holly Jackson previously released but I am going into this one with a fresh mind. This one is more up my street and seems like it will be a very fast-paced read. I am looking forward to seeing what this is like.
