Books I Have on Pre-Order – Part One

I love to pre-order books because you can get excited when ordering them and when they arrive. Waterstones are having a double points weekend from the 7th – 10th of April, so it felt only fitting for me to do some pre-ordering. I wanted to share the books I’ve got on pre-order to share the excitment. I ordered way more than expected though so I am going to spilt this into two parts. Here is part one of books I have on pre-order!

Lovestruck by Laura Jane Williams

Becca Calloway is calling it: she’s ready for Mr Right, and she’s ready now.

She even goes as far as to hold a manifestation ceremony for him – and when she receives a text from her ex five minutes later, she knows it’s a sign.

The problem is, she doesn’t know which way it’s pointing…

Should Becca reply and reignite things with her old flame Mike? Or delete and block, moving forward with the new man in her life?

Becca has one choice, with two ways this could go. And in Lovestruck, you’re about to see them both…

Every time I look at the Waterstones website, this book’s cover looks at me and I always end up reading the synopsis. It sounds like it is going to be an intriguing story. I’ve seen that it is told from two timelines, one where Becca rekindles the love with her ex-boyfriend and another where she blocks him. This has been interested to see how it will all play out!

Lost You to Find You by Erik J. Brown

Tommy Dees is in the weeds – restaurant speak for beyond overwhelmed. He’s been working at Sunset Estates Retirement Community to get the experience he needs to attend one of the best culinary schools in the world. And he also needs a letter of recommendation from his sadistic manager. In exchange for the letter, Tommy has to meet three conditions – including train new-hire Gabriel.

Gabe, with the dimples and kind heart, who Tommy crushed on during summer camp at age ten and then never saw again. Unfortunately, Gabe doesn’t remember Tommy at all. The training proves distracting as old feelings resurface, and the universe seems to be conspiring against them.

With the application deadline looming and Gabe on his mind, can Tommy keep it all together or is it a recipe for disaster?

Having read and loved Erik J. Brown’s debut novel, I knew I had to pre-order this one. It sounds excellent and I have a feeling I am going to love it. A romance with food always intrigues me, and this one is no different!

Betting on You by Lynn Painter

When seventeen-year-old Bailey starts a new job at a hotel waterpark, she is less than thrilled to see an old acquaintance is one of her coworkers. Bailey met Charlie a year ago on the long flight to Omaha, where she moved after her parents’ divorce. Charlie’s cynicism didn’t mix well with Bailey’s carefully well-behaved temperament, and his endless commentary was the irritating cherry on top of an already emotionally fraught trip.

Now, Bailey and Charlie are still polar opposites, but instead of everything about him rubbing Bailey the wrong way, she starts to look forward to hanging out and gossiping about the waterpark guests and their coworkers—particularly two who keep flirting with each other. Bailey and Charlie make a bet on whether or not the cozy pair will actually get together. Charlie insists that members of the opposite sex can’t just be friends, and Bailey is determined to prove him wrong.

Bailey and Charlie keep close track of the romantic progress of others while Charlie works to deflect the growing feelings he’s developed for Bailey. Terrified to lose her if his crush becomes known, what doesn’t help his agenda is Bailey and Charlie “fake dating” in order to disrupt the annoying pleasantries between Bailey’s mom and her mom’s new boyfriend. Soon, what Charlie was hoping to avoid becomes a reality as Bailey starts to see him as not only a friend she can rely on in the midst of family drama—but someone who makes her hands shake and heart race. But Charlie has a secret—a secret that involves Bailey and another bet Charlie may have made. Can the two make a real go of things…or has Charlie’s secret doomed them before they could start?

Lynn Painter has very quickly become one of my instant auto-buy authors. Her books are always fun, heart-warming and romantic. This one sounds particularly excellent and has my favourite trope, fake dating. I really cannot wait to read this one.

Heartstopper Volume 5 by Alice Oseman

Nick and Charlie are very much in love. They’ve finally said those three little words, and Charlie has almost persuaded his mum to let him sleep over at Nick’s house … But with Nick going off to university next year, is everything about to change?

I’m always going to pre-order a new Alice Oseman book and especially when it is a Heartstopper one. I’ve excited to see what happens next for Nick and Charlie and to be back in the Heartstopper world. Also, it is even more exciting to see there will be another volume after this one.

Happy Place by Emily Henry

Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t.

They broke up six months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

Which is how they find themselves sharing the largest bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade. Their annual respite from the world, where for one vibrant, blue week they leave behind their daily lives; have copious amounts of cheese, wine, and seafood; and soak up the salty coastal air with the people who understand them most.

Only this year, Harriet and Wyn are lying through their teeth while trying not to notice how desperately they still want each other. Because the cottage is for sale and this is the last week they’ll all have together in this place. They can’t stand to break their friends’ hearts, and so they’ll play their parts. Harriet will be the driven surgical resident who never starts a fight, and Wyn will be the laid-back charmer who never lets the cracks show. It’s a flawless plan (if you look at it from a great distance and through a pair of sunscreen-smeared sunglasses). After years of being in love, how hard can it be to fake it for one week…in front of those who know you best?

I have been lucky enough to read an early eARC of this book and I cannot put into words how much I adored it. I will be sharing a full review of it soon. I had to pre-order it as I knew I had to have a copy of it on my shelves and I am definitely going to be re-reading it in the future.
