December Book Haul!

Happy January everyone! We are a few days into the New Year now, so I am back with another book haul. This haul consists of 16 books. It has some books kindly gifted by publishers, gifts and presents for myself. Here is my December book haul!

At the start of the month whilst on a trip filled with errands, I treat myself to a few books. They were Sweetpea by C. J. Skuse, Swimming for Beginners by Nicola Gill and Yellowface by Rebecca F. Kuang. I bought a couple of these on impulse and another because it was on my wishlist. I’m excited to read them all.

I was incredibly lucky to be gifted a few books by publishers in December. Usborne gifted me a copy of Where Sleeping Girls Lie by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé which is out on 18th March and sounds amazing! Harper gifted me a copy of ASAP by Axie Oh which is out on 6th February. This is a companion novel to XOXO and I cannot wait to read it!

Harper also gifted me a copy of With or Without You by Eric Smith which is out now and sounds incredible! Finally, Little Brown gifted me a copy of The Prospects by KT Hoffman which is out of 9th April and I’m looking forward to reading very soon.

I love taking myself on a trip to the local Waterstones on Boxing Day. I’ve done it for the the last few years and 2023 was no different. Whilst there I picked up a few books in the half price sale. They were Glutton by Ed Gamble, Four Seasons in Japan by Nick Bradley and Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop by Hwang Bo-reum. I’ve had my eyes on these for a while so it was nice to finally pick them up.

Whilst at work between Christmas and New Year I was only a 10 minutes walk away from a bookshop. So, of course I had to take a quick trip. I picked up The Other Half by Charlotte Wassell which I hadn’t heard anything about but whose synopsis had me intrigued. Also, Beautiful Shining People by Michael Grothaus another I hadn’t heard of but sounded amazing.

Right at the end of the month my Waterstones online sale order arrived. It consisted of The Door-to-Door Bookstore by Carsten Sebastian Henn, Penance by Eliza Clark, The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyoun Kim and The List by Yomi Adegoke. All of these have been on my wishlist for a while so I couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to get them at half price.

So, I ended the month with 16 more books than I began it with. Thank you so much to the publishers who gifted some of the books included in this haul!

What books did you get in December and what books are you excited about in January? Let me know in the comments!
