Bookish Smash or Pass Tag

It feels like a while since I last did a book tag. So, I wanted to do a tag I’ve been meaning to do for quite a while. I found the Bookish Smash or Pass tag on Becky’s Book Blog. Here it is!

Smash! I love most book tropes out there. My favourites being fake dating, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers and second-chance romance. There are a few I’m not the biggest fan of like insta-love or the miscommunication trope. But, for the most part I love book tropes.

Yes please! I adore books that alternate between POVs. I feel like we get to know more about the characters and see events from different perspectives.

I’ll pass on this one. I like a well-round ending. I don’t mind if there are a few questions left for the reader but I would much prefer a story to come to a good, solid end.

Smash. I like picking up a non-fiction book every once in a while. I feel like I read them alongside reading a fiction book more often than not. I don’t read as many as fiction but I still enjoy them.

I’ll pass. I’d much rather read books with modern-day settings. Sometimes I’ll pick up one with a historical setting but I am never drawn to them.

Not always but I do enjoy a morally grey character every once in a while. I think they bring some tension and drama to the books which I enjoy.

I don’t really mind what POV a book is in. Boring answer I know, but it doesn’t bother me at all.

Smash, I love audiobooks. I love being able to listen to a book whilst doing the cleaning or cooking. I get to do tasks whilst also reading a book, what more could I want.

Smash! I love re-reading my comfort books. I feel like re-read a comfort book of mine helps me to get out of a reading slump. Also, I love re-visiting books I’ve enjoyed a lot.

Pass. I’m not a big fan of classic novels. I’ve read a few but I don’t ever find myself gravitating towards them in the bookshop. So, I’ll pass.

Pass. I have never annotated a book because I literally would not know what to write. I’ve occasionally tabbed a book but annotating isn’t for me.

Pass. I hate doing it on purpose. But, if it is done by accident that wouldn’t bother me. I just wouldn’t do it on purpose.

Smash. As long as it comes with some plot to go alongside it, I’m always happy for some smut!

My favourite kind of books so smash. I will always pick character driven books over plot driven books. If a book has a terrible plot but excellent characters then I won’t mind and will give it a read.

Smash! I love books that do this well. I love seeing the past and the present in a book especially if it adds more to the story for me. Sometimes it can be done badly and feel jumpy. But, more often than not I love it.

Pass! I really struggle with learnt about new worlds especially if it is an incredibly detailed fantasy world. I would love if no world building was needed.

There you have it, the bookish smash or pass tag! What bookish things would you smash and what would you pass? Let me know in the comment below!
