Books I Want to Read (but Don’t Want to Read) Tag

Do you ever have books which you like the idea of reading but the actual process of reading it seems unappealing and daunting? I know I do. So, when I spotted this tag that talks about exactly that I knew I had to give it a go. I found this tag on jamishelves, so be sure to check out their answers. Here is the books I want to read (but don’t want to read) tag.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros is a book that I feel like I need to read because everyone is talking about it at the moment. I’ve picked it up a few times in shops to purchase and then put it back down. I just don’t actually have the desire to read it but feel like I’m missing out by not reading it.

A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara is such a long book. It is over 700 pages long which in my opinion is way too long for a book. It is a book that I’ve always been intrigued to read but its length and content scare me quite a bit so I don’t think I’ll ever actually pick it up.

People who have been following my blog for a while will be fed up with me mentioned Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. It has been on my TBR for way too long now and it always catches my eye when I look at my shelves. Maybe one day I will pick it up but to be honest it seems unlikely.

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is a book that so many people say is ‘required’ reading and is one I have always thought I should read. That being said, I don’t think it is one for me. So, I think I will be leaving reading this one for quite some time.

I can’t lie, the entire Lord of the Rings series by J. R. R. Tolkien intimidates me. It is a long series and as someone who adores the film adaptations I’m worried that the books will completely change my view of the films. Not only that I’ve heard the world building is very descriptive and that also intimidates me.

I’ve seen a lot about In Memoriam by Alice Winn recently which has got me interested in reading it. But, I do think it would be a slow read and the year it is set in makes me think that even more. I may give it a go eventually but not any time soon.

I have to be in the right mood to read any books in the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. I love this series but is certainly a series I have to be in the right mood to read. The one next in the series for me has a couple of things that for me will be tough to read. So, I will be reading it but I’m not sure when.

I’m going to say The Things We Do To Our Friends by Heather Darwent which I bought a little while ago. I want to read it but I’m reluctant to and I’m not sure sure if I’ll like it. It has got some amazing reviews which does make me want to read it at some point and take that chance.

There you have it, the books I want to read (but don’t want to read) tag! That was a lot of fun to do. What are some books you want to read but don’t actually want to read? Let me know in the comments below!
