May is nearly here which means there are a lot of new releases coming out very soon. There are so many amazing books coming out next month. So, I wanted to share the ones I’m most excited about in this post. So, here are the new book releases I’m excited for in May!

Dead Happy by Josh Silver
Synopsis for the second book in the series, so beware of spoilers.
Seb, along with a select group of participants, finds himself washed up on an isolated island called Elmhallow, under the guardianship of a mysterious couple. As the experiment steps up another level, Seb is forced to team up with Eleanor once more.
But where is Finn? And what does HappyHead have in store for them next?

I’m so excited to read the next book in the series. The first was so gripping and full of mystery. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story will continue. Hopefully it will be as gripping and mysterious of the first one. If you want to read my review of Happyhead the first book in the series, you can find that here.

Bite Me, Royce Taslim by Lauren Ho
Agnes Chan never expected to be the punchline of her own life . . .
But how else do you explain getting accidentally run over and seeing a lifetime of careful preparation, endless training, and all your hopes of a track scholarship to college destroyed in a split second? Not to mention the only witness to your humiliation being your #1 archnemesis, Royce Taslim.
So, when Agnes finds a new answer to her scholarship predicament in the form of an international stand-up comedy contest for teens, the last person she expects to be up against is also the last person she wants to see: Royce. Because for years Royce has represented everything Agnes loathes: extreme privilege, popularity, and physical perfection (ok maybe she doesn’t hate that part so much).
Behind the scenes, though, Royce’s flawless façade fades away, revealing someone Agnes never expected—someone who shows her that perhaps the best parts of life are the ones you aren’t prepared for—and as the competition heats up, so do things between these two rivals. But will the pressure to win be too much for them to handle—or will Agnes (and Royce) get the last laugh?

After reading and loving Lauren Ho’s adult fiction books I’m excited to give her YA fiction a read and see what I think. This is a rivals-to-love YA book which sounds like it is going to be an enjoyable read. I have seen some mixed reviews about it so far but I will still be picking it up and giving it a go.

This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune
Lucy is the tourist vacationing at a beach house on Prince Edward Island. Felix is the local who shows her a very good time. The only problem: Lucy doesn’t know he’s her best friend’s younger brother. Lucy and Felix’s chemistry is unreal, but the list of reasons why they need to stay away from each other is long, and they vow to never repeat that electric night again.
It’s easier said than done.
Each year, Lucy escapes to PEI for a big breath of coastal air, fresh oysters and crisp vinho verde with her best friend, Bridget. Every visit begins with a long walk on the beach, beneath soaring red cliffs and a golden sun. And every visit, Lucy promises herself she won’t wind up in Felix’s bed. Again.
If Lucy can’t help being drawn to Felix, at least she’s always kept her heart out of it.

I’ve read Carley Fortune’s previous books whilst on holiday for the past couple of years and thoroughly enjoyed them. This one sounds like it will be excellent and has already been getting some amazing reviews. I’ve pre-ordered this one and I’m planning on reading it whilst on holiday and cannot wait!

The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren
Anna Green thought she was marrying Liam “West” Weston for access to subsidized family housing while at UCLA. She also thought she’d signed divorce papers when the graduation caps were tossed, and they both went on their merry ways.
Three years later, Anna is a starving artist living paycheck to paycheck while West is a Stanford professor. He may be one of four heirs to the Weston Foods conglomerate, but he has little interest in working for the heartless corporation his family built from the ground up. He is interested, however, in his one-hundred-million-dollar inheritance. There’s just one catch.
Due to an antiquated clause in his grandfather’s will, Liam won’t see a penny until he’s been happily married for five years. Just when Liam thinks he’s in the home stretch, pressure mounts from his family to see this mysterious spouse, and he has no choice but to turn to the one person he’s afraid to introduce to his one-percenter parents—his unpolished, not-so-ex-wife.
But in the presence of his family, Liam’s fears quickly shift from whether the feisty, foul-mouthed, paint-splattered Anna can play the part to whether the toxic world of wealth will corrupt someone as pure of heart as his surprisingly grounded and loyal wife. Liam will have to ask himself if the price tag on his flimsy cover story is worth losing true love that sprouted from a lie.

I’m always going to be excited about a new Christina Lauren book and this one in particular sounds incredible. A fake marriage has me so intrigued. It sounds like a more intense fake dating trope which is my favourite trope ever. So, I cannot wait to get my hands on this one and read it as soon as possible.
